The Sr. Analyst - Market Research is an integral part of the Consumer Insights team that influences business decisions focused on Ulta Beauty's strategic brands. This role is principally responsible for market research projects including decisions on methodology, instrument design, sample planning, interpreting data, formulating reports and making recommendations based upon the research findings working closely with Ulta Beauty's merchant team and their brand partners. The Sr. Analyst works to define the overarching business objective of the research project, and documents the scope and requirements. He/she then selects the proper study methodology, ensures the project is executed effectively using internal and external (if necessary) resources within budget, and then prepares and presents the findings and recommendations to the client. In addition to conducting primary research, the Sr. Analyst will also draw from various other information sources, such as existing customer research, syndicated databases, competitive intelligence sources and internal resources to develop insights that provide competitive advantages to Ulta Beauty.PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESAssessing the right study methodology whether it is a qualitative research project including focus groups, phone or in-store interviews with current Ulta Beauty guests and/or non-Ulta Beauty guests and/or social media listening or a quantitative research project including targeted Ulta Beauty customer email surveys, gen pop consumer surveys, etc.Developing a strong partnership and collaboration with Ulta Beauty merchants and brand partners to consult with the merchants and brands on how to attain their business goals by leveraging customer insights. Collaborating with the merchants, CRM/loyalty team, customer analytics team, and other internal teams, review and analyze survey results including preparing recommendations on actions/ideas the brand/merchant can use to make improvements - moving beyond tactical to strategic as well as documenting action taken on the insights and resulting impact.Participating in brand market meetings to share and drive brand insights demand Preparing and presenting results to all levels of the organization in an audience specific language with an orientation toward action-oriented decision-makingWorking with the Market Research Manager, determine and implement studies across our categories to be used by Ulta Beauty merchants and possibly brand partnersDesigning surveys, interview/discussion guides, or other data collection instruments and determining the appropriate sample based on respondent targeting/selection criteria using Ulta Beauty's design principlesProgramming surveys into Ulta Beauty's survey platform and coordinating with the cross-functional team responsible for creating and sending targeted emails Providing the analytical support for external data sourced from partners Assisting the Market Research Manager in managing brand vendor relationships, including reviewing contracts and pricing, advising on methodologies, sample requirements, providing feedback on instrument development (i.e., questionnaire, interview guide, etc.), adhering to study timing, data execution, and reporting Creating a monthly Project Recap Report to communicate completed research studies as well as those studies in progress and sharing internally with the merchants. ,
