The Senior Financial Control IT Auditor’s role is to provide

objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve

the operations of Supervalu. Financial Controls brings a systematic,

disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of Supervalu’s

internal controls over financial reporting program, in addition to providing consulting

on internal controls, risk management, compliance, and governance processes.  This position is expected to proactively

identify and evaluate risk, develop audit programs, lead testing, provide

consultative advice, identify issues, identify areas for improvement in

efficiency and effectiveness, work with management in developing control design

to ensure risks are effectively mitigated, and follow up to determine adequacy

of corrective actions for information technology areas of the Company.   

 

Job Responsibilities

and Accountabilities:   

Perform IT risk assessment and support business

application scoping.Support management by identifying appropriate IT

controls designed to mitigate the identified risks.Assist management in documenting business

processes in flowcharts and narratives.  Support

development of testing methodologies and testing execution to ensure evidence

exists supporting the design and operating effectiveness of IT controls. Identify the appropriate party to perform

testing and follow up to obtain evidence of testing.Perform quarterly assessments including

monitoring changes in internal controls and reviewing segregation of duties.  Assess any identified control deficiencies to

determine if it could be a material weakness, significant deficiency or

deficiency.  Assist management in

development, implementation and validation of remediation plans.Support reporting to the Disclosure Committee on

the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting, including IT

controls.Review and evaluate new or changing audit,

accounting and financial reporting regulations and evaluate implications to

Supervalu’s internal controls over financial reporting.  Identify and measure new and major changes to

information systems to ensure that adequate IT controls exist.  Keep informed of emerging trends and

successful practices in Financial Controls, IT controls, application (system)

controls.Evaluate the adequacy of actions taken by

Management to correct reported deficiencies in internal controls over financial

reporting.Facilitate the scope of work of external

auditors.  Perform consulting services

related to IT controls and risk management processes, as appropriate.  Obtain adequate supporting documentation for

findings and opinions, and thoroughly document testing approach and conclusions

in the working papers.  Reach and support

conclusions on the overall effectiveness of IT controls.  Supervise the work of audit staff/loaned

staff/contractors and perform the first-level review of all working papers. Provide on-the-job training and supervision for staff.  Continuously improve the department’s

processes to incorporate the audit industry’s leading practices. 

Job Requirements:   

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or

other related area required/Bachelor’s degree in IT, related field or

applicable work experience required. An M.B.A is a plus.   Professional certification (Certified Internal

Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Information

Systems Auditor (CISA), etc.) is strongly preferred.                Three to five years of experience in IT auditing

or related experience.  Big 4 CPA firm

experience a plus.   Some past business

management experience preferred.Excellent personal computer skills and knowledge

and understanding of accounting, management and/or information systems

required.  Knowledge of COSO internal

control frameworks required.   Knowledge

of software and audit techniques used by Financial Controls, such as Audit

Command Language (ACL), preferred. 

General knowledge of Company operations and retail industry helpful.Must possess excellent verbal, written and

presentation skills, a high degree of personal integrity and ability to work

under limited supervision. Experience and audit ability required to

supervise and direct project staff whether local or multi-locational.  Excellent analytical skills to learn customer

business objectives, evaluate risks and plan projects.Must be confident, able to multi-task, think on

their feet and interact well with audit customers and company management. Ability to provide project related guidance to

audit staff as well as react to department management and audit customer needs.
