Senior Accountant

Tenneco Inc. - Ligonier, IN

Provides financial guidance and assistance to manufacturing site; develops and maintains procedures for the financial control of all assets, revenues, and operating expenses; helps develop annual operating plan; is responsible for the accuracy of accounting methods, accounting records, and financial reports.

ESSENTIALS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Applies principles of cost accounting to conduct studies which provide detailed cost information for manufacturing.

Aggressively manage the plant's costs systems and provide financial analysis on monthly performance.

Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and accounts payable issues

Maintain internal controls and comply with all audit requests

Enhance cost system to insure accurate manufacturing costs, through analyzing internal systems.

Help perform month end close procedures, prepare month end reports and perform variance and account reconciliations.

Assists in preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.

Provides Plant Management Team with timely reviews of assigned areas of responsibility associated with tracking of plant cost savings, plant EVA, plant capital spending and forecasts.

Provides input on desirable operational adjustments to improve these measures by providing financial analysis used to lead plant improvement activity.

Assist with inventory reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation.

Required Experience

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field

Minimum 2-3 years experience in cost accounting and budgeting in a manufacturing environment

Knowledge of applicable external/statutory reporting regulations (e.g., IRS, SEC, governmental, audits)

Experience with ERP systems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

MBA or CPA desirable

Experienced in the field of automotive

Knowledge of GAAP and other industry standards relating to accounting policies and procedures

Ability to interpret and explain complex financial data to the organization

Excellent communication skills

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and follow through projects to completion.

Self directed individual with the ability to work with and manage others in a team environment.

Solid communication skills, both written and oral.

Solid PC skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), SAP, Hyperion

Excellent leadership and team skills
