Worthington Cylinders Oil and Gas SBU is searching for a bright, motivated self-starter with a background in accounting or finance. This individual should aspire to grow within the organization by providing valuable information to business unit leadership for decision making purposes.

General Responsibilities:

The Senior Accountant will be a member of Oil and Gas accounting and finance team. This individual will work closely with operational management and will also support sales and corporate accounting as needed.

Areas of responsibilities include:


Own centralized month-end related closing tasks for the 5 US locations

Play a critical role in gathering month-end metrics helping facilitate monthly SBU management team meeting (safety, quality, on time delivery, and financial metrics)

Willingness to work with plant operations to understand processes to ensure financial results match plant performance

Allow management team to maximize profitability by ensuring accurate product costing on a monthly basis

Assist in ensuring SOX compliance

Provide other information to Worthington Cylinders Division or Worthington Industries Corporate as requested

Become knowledge expert within the group on corporate consolidating/reporting software

Own special projects relating to improving internal reporting by working with the business to assess needs


Provide financial direction to Oil and Gas executives by assisting in the completion of periodic forecasts, especially the annual financial plan

Work with Plant Controllers to create financial models relating to capital investments

Work with Plant Controllers and Finance to complete variable cost analysis by product family

Work with Plant Controllers and Finance to complete value stream financial analysis

Provide analytical support to the Finance and Sales teams around monthly sales analytics and new business opportunities

Provide analytical support to the Oil and Gas Transformation team as needed

Provide analytical support to the Oil and Gas Supply Chain team as needed

Must be willing and able to travel to US facility locations as needed (10% annually)

Manage and develop accounting intern(s)


3-6 years of accounting/finance work experience

Bachelors in Accounting/Finance or similar degree or equivalent experience, Masters Business Administration (MBA) or CPA preferred

Project Management experience is a plus

Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills. Break down complex problems into manageable pieces

Strong starter and multi-tasking skills

Creative thinking and fact-based data collection

Working with ambiguity

Adept at building trusting relationships while motivating/influencing others to adopt new best practices

Computer Proficiency - Microsoft Office, Sharepoint, JD Edwards, Oracle BI, Tagetik are useful

Excellent communication written, verbal, and reporting

Intermediate understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
