Security Operations Business Analyst
Position may be based in Reston, Virginia or Fort Worth, Texas
The Security Operations Business Analyst will assist the Global Head of Information Security for Security Engineering and Operations by providing analytical, technical and operational support. The Security Operations Business Analyst will also work with stakeholders from the Business units, Legal, Risk, and IT teams to define and document business processes, gather requirements, and obtain information related to the security engineering and operational activities. This may include the development of metrics to demonstrate effectiveness, develop process workflows, develop communications and provide reporting required for the purpose of adhoc and/or scheduled updates.
*The ideal candidate for this role will have experience in one or more of the following specialty areas in Security Operations and Engineering - Application Security, Endpoint Security, Data Security, Mobile Security and Network Security.
*Develop an understanding of the security tool offerings in the security engineering and operational areas and work with the business units to provide understanding of the value provided by the same.
*Gather and document requirements from the business unit stakeholders and work with the engineering team to ensure the needs of the business are being met with regards to ongoing or new security initiatives.
*Develop metrics and key performance indicators that demonstrate effectiveness of all security engineering and operational tools.
*Provide information and support the development of project plans as it relates to the implementation of new processes, procedures and delivery of new technological platforms for information security.
*Lead continual process improvement efforts as it relates to the information security tools.
*Assist business users, project managers and IT leadership in optimizing the scope, benefits and risks of proposed projects; help manage expectations of users and management.
*Work with the business units to develop use cases for specific application monitoring requirements and work with engineering to implement those requirements.
*Ensure change management processes are understood and adhered and understand the impacts of those changes so they are properly communicated to the business units, management and the engineering teams.
*Create, review and revise any documentation related to the security tools, inclusive of procedures, runbooks, business unit application/system lists, and workflow and design diagrams.
*Facilitate meetings and attend meetings as required in order to accomplish work requirements.
*Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
*Monitor project progress by tracking activity; resolve problems; publish progress reports; recommend actions.
*Improve systems by studying current practices; design or propose modifications.
*Recommend controls by identifying problems; write improved procedures.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
* The candidate for this role must have a strong business acumen and be able to marry that with strong analytical skills in order to determine business needs and help deliver on those requirements.
*Strong ability to interpret business objectives into functional activities that deliver against the objectives.
*Strong project management skills and an ability to prioritize requirements.
*Strong understanding of change management and ability to work under the required guidelines and deliver on business/project requirements.
*Ability to deal diplomatically and effectively at all levels of the organization including both technical and non-technical, management and senior leadership.
*Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with multiple goals.
*High level critical thinking and strategic planning skills.
*Excellent written and verbal communications, effective interpersonal skills, strong formal presentation abilities and good leadership skills.
*Good understanding of Windows, Unix/Linux operating systems, security administration, and TCP/IP networking.
*Basic understanding of security concepts like Perimeter Security and defense in depth.
*Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
*Outstanding time management and organizational skills required.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in information security or information technology related positions, preferably in a business analytics capacity. Experience working with teams in a project oriented environment with a focus on governance, reporting, and driving business value.
Formal Education & Certification
*Bachelor's degree from a four year accredited college/university preferred (or equivalent experience).
*Preferred Certifications: One or more of the following certification designations is preferred -
*Certified Information Systems Security Professional - SSCP, CISSP.
