Safety Officer

Jacobs Entertainment Inc - Durham, NC

Conduct personnel training and ensure environmental compliance with regulatory programs, operating permits, and licenses.

Prepare job hazard analyses for employees to determine potential or actual workplace exposures to chemical, radiological or biological agents, and/or physical stressors.

Communicate effectively verbally and in writing to administer safety program and training, gather and analyze metrics, and collaborate with subject matter experts.

Conduct respiratory fit testing following regulatory requirements and standard procedures.

Project effort, cost and schedules accurately.

Work closely with federal safety team and collaborate effectively to implement Jacobs safety program in client operating environment.

Promote the Jacobs BeyondZero Incident and Injury Free environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Local candidates preferred

Minimum Bachelor of Science degree and 10 years of safety program experience. Preferably a Master’s degree in health, safety or industrial hygiene. Industrial hygiene certification highly preferable.

Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft WORD, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Ability to effectively document work performed, safety observations, hazard analyses, safety plans, procedures, and training materials is essential. Must be able to give safety briefings and trainings to large and small groups.

Experience implementing an occupational medical surveillance program regulated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Able to effectively interpret OSHA and other regulatory guidance and offer operational solutions in accordance with the regulations.

Experience preparing job hazard analyses for employees to determine potential or actual workplace exposures to chemical, radiological or biological agents, and/or physical stressors.

Able to plan and conduct projects of major significance and originate/apply innovative methods and procedures.

Experience managing an employee occupational safety, health, and environmental management program to meet requirements for on-site work performed at federal facilities, and when performing fieldwork.

Must be able to effectively gather, analyze, and report on safety metrics. Able to effectively communicate technical advice to research professionals, technicians, and administrative personnel.

Able to lead safety teams.

Experience with chemical, biological, and radioactive safety programs preferable.

Experience implementing personnel training, environmental compliance with regulatory programs, operating permits and licenses.

Experience with U.S. Department of Transportation and the International Air Transport Association shipping regulations.

Experience with air sampling, modeling, regulatory environments; electrical safety; HAZWOPER programs; storm water permits, human studies research, and institutional review boards is a plus.
