Manages, plans, and coordinates the routine testing lab program designed to ensure continuous production and services consistent with established manufacturing standards. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish requirements for end-product compliance.  Supervises the planning, staffing, and day-to-day operations of the routine testing functions to ensure the assigned area operates in a cost effective and efficient manner. Develops and works with subordinates in all areas such as safety, employee relations, manufacturing processes, achieving goals, etc. Works directly with Product Management to develop specifications, performance criteria for product development.  Performs with latitude for independent action within the framework of the job\u2019s primary duties.

Manages work flow for the Routine Testing group, including but not limited to customer (product development) interaction, data reporting, and finalization of routine projects.
Acts as Primary Trainer for all laboratory staff (both technical and administrative) regarding laboratory operations.
Supervises Quality Lab personnel and coaches them in the proper techniques for sampling and performing laboratory analysis on finished products. Charts defects and trends noted during lab testing and implements efficient and cost effective remedial action. Ensures all test equipment is operable and calibrated correctly. Troubleshoots equipment and obtains maintenance assistance as necessary to maintain a high level of productivity within the non-routine lab.
Prepare and present weekly progress reports on testing/validation, market demands, and lab performance.
Works with administrative staff to process paperwork, track status, provide updates on compliance projects.  Assists with addressing regulatory issues at state, federal, and international levels. 
Guides and works with subordinates in all areas such as employee relations, problem solving, setting and achieving goals, budget control, manufacturing processes, scheduling, equipment problems, etc. Provides assistance to employees in solving work related problems.
Works with laboratory management to plan, develop, and control budgets ensuring cost effective operations to deliver high quality answers to customers. Participates on short-term planning meetings and projects addressing issues related to labor, material requirements, changes in productivity, performance measures, and goals.
Maintains laboratory waste management system.
Provides a safe work environment that meets the guidelines of the Company safety program while achieving the departmental safety goals.


Bachelor degree (preferred) in a related discipline and 8 years of progressively responsible job specific experience within the functional area. Must include a minimum of 5 years in a leadership/supervisory role in an environment of comparable size and diversity or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the essential functions of the job.
Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred and will be required within 12 months of hire.
Intermediate/Advanced skills utilizing Microsoft Excel and Access.
General Knowledge of all flooring platforms.
Knowledge of Mohawk\u2019s organizational and functional operating structure, products, and administrative procedures and policies.
Working knowledge and understanding of HR policies, practices, and procedures as it relates to employee relations, hiring, terminations, benefit and compensation plans, and administrative guidelines.
Knowledge of budgeting and expense control to plan, implement, and control expenditure while maintaining and improving quality standards.
Strong analytical skills to interpret and adapt known methods, system procedures, or operating concepts to new situations. Ability to approach unfamiliar or unusual situations with ease while identifying a range of solutions.
Trained to work with hazardous chemicals with regards to handling and disposal.
