Proud to be an equal opportunity employer.The Senior Director-Business Unit Communications Leader, Cardiovascular and Metabolism and Established Products is responsible for the strategic planning, development and implementation of integrated external and internal communication and public affairs strategies to support the business objectives of multiple Pharmaceuticals businesses and the Enterprise as a whole. Leads communication and public affairs strategy and execution for the CVM business that is expected to remain a key driver of J&J valuation over the next decade and for Puerto Rico, as well as for our large portfolio of Established Products.   Responsibilities:•Leading, inspiring and developing a high-performing, highly engaged team that delivers for the Enterprise and our Janssen businesses and strengthens our GCPA function•Guide business decisions to drive business and Enterprise growth and develop and enhance our reputation•Serve on the Leadership Team (Board) for CVM•Develop and strengthen relationships with and serve as trusted advisor to President and other senior Leadership Team members•Coach President and senior Leadership Team members to develop their ability to engage and inspire their organizations•Serves as senior Communication voice with leadership on business decisions and critical issues/crises•Drive Enterprise and business unit growth and build stakeholder trust/advocacy by leading team in developing and implementing proactive public relations efforts•Lead development and implementation of strategic communication plans for CVM and Established Products portfolio, aligning with and advancing both business and GCPA goals and strategies•Managing wide range of issues associated with extensive, multi-billion-dollar Established Products portfolio•Model and inspire integration of knowledge from deep internal and external networks; multi-stakeholder insights; and broad understanding of business, competitive and industry priorities in development and efficient implementation of strategic communication plans that drive key business and reputation outcomes and shape the environment for the company's medicines and solutions•Shape team approach to proactively drive business and Enterprise outcomes by identifying and applying key outcomes metrics to communication practices, and provide insights that drive confidence, integration and alignment. Model close partnership with Strategy & Insights CoE in developing metrics and assessing impact•Develop and guide implementation of executive leadership and engagement strategy, positioning senior leaders, Janssen and J&J with key stakeholders•Maintain deep understanding of current issues in the environment affecting Enterprise, businesses and brands; build public affairs capabilities within team and encourage development of public affairs strategies, in partnership with Public Affairs colleagues, that inform and shape belief, action, behavior and advocacy to shape the external environment•Anticipate and guide team in addressing emerging market and internal realities to drive revenue and profitability•Partner with Therapeutic Area Communication leader to align and activate global communication plans•Ensure regional public relations plans leverage competitive advantage of a single-Enterprise set of strategic priorities, and actively encourage best practice sharing between markets•Guide team in effectively managing public relations and other agencies •Oversee budgets with the highest degree of fiscal prudence and responsibility •Develop relationships with top media, including key social media influencers•Build relationships with and act as liaison to key third-party influencers and external constituencies •Maintain stakeholder trust through effective management of issues•Ensure that team proactively identifies potential Enterprise, brand / franchise-related, Puerto Rico and Established Products issues and develop issues-management strategies and processes•Ensure excellence in management of product issues and other situations that may impact stakeholder trust and company reputation•Directly engage in and shape approach to issues that rise to Enterprise level of concern•Partner closely with global Janssen communication, Media Relations, Workforce Communication, Strategy & Insights and other CoEs to ensure Enterprise alignment•Serve as spokesperson for top-tier, complex media inquiries•Drive employee engagement and advocacy through powerful organizational communication•Oversee development and implementation of internal communication strategy and messages that inspire, engage, inform and align employees•Drive outcomes by aligning team behind a measurement approach to organizational communication, incorporate relevant metrics that are indicators of employee engagement•Partner closely with Enterprise employee communication team, HR, and others to ensure integrated, seamless integration Enterprise communication •Build a high-performing, continuously improving team that makes our Enterprise and the GCPA function stronger•Proactively develop healthy, high-performance and highly engaged team consisting of talent at multiple levels and involved in multiple businesses•Model and promote Our Credo and our Leadership Imperatives•Model and lead with a One Team mindset to unify, collaborate and drive for best Enterprise outcomes•Model and inspire a continuous improvement mindset to ensure function stays on the leading edge of communications, change management, technology, social media and other key trends•Develop and coach others in superior written, oral and visual communications in a variety of styles and formats•Promote diversity and inclusion at all times•Serve on North America Communication & Public Affairs Leadership Team, extending leadership beyond direct reports to NA CPA as a wholeQualifications•Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent is required•Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience managing communication in a company, NGO, government agency or public relations agency is required•Proven track record of successful public relations/communications, corporate communication, product communication, public affairs, and/or media relations achievements is required•Current or previous people management experience is preferred •Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, coach and develop high-performing teams is required•Demonstrated ability to build deep, authentic relationships and strong influence with senior internal and external stakeholders is required•Current or previous experience providing counsel to Senior Leadership is required •Demonstrated ability to develop successful partnerships with top executives is required•Extensive experience in crisis/issues management is required•Extensive experience dealing with national and local lay, professional/trade and social media is required•Deep understanding of digital and social platforms is preferred•Outstanding strategic thinking and analytical ability is required•Extensive experience in managing budgets and resource allocation across large critical projects is required•Ability to exercise a high level of independent judgment even in challenging, complex situations is required•This position is located in Titusville, NJ and will require up to 10% domestic travel• A Relocation package has not been specifically budgeted for this position.
