This position is with Chevron Pipe Line Company (CPL), which is headquartered in Houston, Texas. CPL deals in the transport of crude oil, refined petroleum products, liquefied petroleum gas, natural gas and petrochemicals within the United States.
The SCADA (Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition) Specialist is a member of the SCADA Systems Team, which is part of the Information Technology and SCADA Department. Personnel within the SCADA Systems Team are primarily assigned to (1) implement Control Center projects that impact or integrate with SCADA, (2) provide reliable SCADA and Advanced Applications support, or (3) support field project commissioning activities including SCADA database and display creation and point-to-point checkouts. The Team resides in Houston, TX, and supports CPL's Control Center (CC) operations personnel, CPL Engineering & Technical Services, Project Managers, and Field Team operations and maintenance personnel across the US.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Provides Subject Matter Expertise in Pipeline SCADA and Advanced Applications by participating in or leading Shaping Plan Projects
Provides consultation and project support for leak detection applications and real-time computer-based computational monitoring of pipelines
Specifies, designs, tests, integrates and documents software changes for SCADA systems and applications following standard processes and change management procedures
Provides support for CPL SCADA systems, including Windows Server and Workstation hardware, software, networks, security, and SCADA communications
Performs system administration tasks, monitors SCADA system performance, and maintains SCADA applications
Provides 24/7 callout support for SCADA system and SCADA-related applications on a rotational basis
Supports the configuration of the SCADA system database and displays
Supports all phases of installation, testing and commissioning activities for remote field projects that affect the SCADA system
Stays current on technology associated with SCADA systems and leak detection applications
Facilitates access to control center operational data from the CPL enterprise
Supports and enhances the use of casual user connectivity and advanced data analysis tools
Performs basic troubleshooting by applying knowledge of process automation, PLCs/RTUs and communications protocols.
Provides problem solving, continuous improvement and standardization efforts for SCADA-related work processes
Understands the business needs of the Control Center and CPL, and aligns work to support those needs and objectives
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline; in lieu of degree, 7 years of SCADA experience will be considered
Minimum 3 years of SCADA experience required
Experience with OASyS DNA is strongly preferred
Experience with SimSuite Pipeline is preferred
Experience with OSIsoft PI is preferred
Experience with AutoSol Communication Manager (ACM) is a plus
Experience in Pipeline SCADA & Advanced Applications and Leak Detection System design, installation, commissioning and maintenance.
Applicable technical knowledge of Field Control Systems, SCADA and communication interfaces.
Strong technical knowledge of Chevron and pipeline industry engineering, operations and support policies/practices for SCADA and control systems.
Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, problem solving, and resolving technical issues.
Knowledge of mission critical SCADA H/W, S/W, networks, high availability architecture and virtualization.
Knowledge of MS Windows Server administration, Active Directory, Microsoft SQL Server, PowerShell and Perl scripting.
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead SCADA-related projects or development efforts.
Ability to effectively plan, prioritize, schedule and manage work activities to meet customer needs and expectations.
Ability to accomplish desired results independently with minimal direction.
