Education & Experience   Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Experience in competitive energy sales is preferred, but not required.

Minimum of 3 years sales management experience required.

This position is located in Columbus, Ohio; some multi-state Field Sales travel required.

Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

Position Summary:

The Supervisor oversees the performance and aides the development of a 10 person sales team to achieve   sales in the residential market at or above the defined annual margin quota   for the individual/team. Lead by example while providing best in class coaching and development to direct reports

Key Duties &   Responsibilities:


Responsible for achieving or exceeding annual enrolment and margin quotas for new business.

Responsible for conducting regular reviews of each salesperson's sales technique, customer qualification, prioritization, compliance, business development and ultimate effectiveness.

Assist in developing new sales quotas for individual team members, territory management and permit distribution.

Lead management: Supervise the distribution of leads to the Field Sales team, direct and coach Field Sales representative activities to qualify, develop and maintain a consistent incoming stream of prospective customers.

Educate and lead sales team on effective cold calling, challenges, referral generation and relationship building in order to identify and develop a portfolio of new accounts.

Identify strategies and product types to help customers manage their energy portfolio or avoid exposure by limiting risk from utility or market prices.

Target and prepare individuals for growth within AEP Energy or the greater American Electric Power portfolio of companies.

Market Intelligence

Work closely with senior sales management to identify prospective markets, product offerings, opportunities and competitive threats. Assist in developing sales strategies. 

Direct and coach sales team to provide on-going and regular feedback to sales management regarding key opportunities and challenges.


Participate in recruiting, hiring and retaining high performing sales representatives.

Invests time/attention to understand longer term career aspirations of individual sales reps and serves   as mentor and career advisor.

Responsible for employee retention- ensuring retention of top performers by initiating transfer/redeployment to advanced sales positions and/or other opportunities   within the Company.

Review and approve employee schedules, which include requested time off and ensures sufficient staffing levels through scheduling.

Makes recommendations on employee counseling and/or discipline for performance issues. Work collaboratively with the Manager of Residential Field Sales on corrective actions and   performance improvements.

Assigns work to employees based on the specific skills, training, experience and availability of the individuals under his/her supervision with the goals of increased sales and   individual growth.
