can be. The Prediction Theory and Ag Systems Modeling team focuses on

developing mathematical models of plants and agricultural systems to enable prediction

methodologies for digital solutions. We are looking for individuals with a

desire to help farmers, familiarity with nonlinear dynamical systems and an

aptitude for analytics, machine learning and data science.





The scientist will create novel algorithms to simulate growth and

development for multiple crops and cropping systems, along with methodologies

to train these models to maximize predictability of performance. Modeling and

training frameworks include dynamic and Bayesian methods, and combination of

mechanistic and data driven algorithms. The scientist participates in

interdisciplinary teams of plant scientists, mathematicians, data scientists

and software engineers to ensure successful development of high performing

prediction methodologies that harness biological knowledge, genetics,

environment and management.


Work in conjunction with

Research Scientists to establish project portfolio with goals aligned with research


Lead the development of next

generation of plant growth models through the integration of statistical

learning methods with mechanistic models.

Conduct basic research to enable the design of novel

cropping systems that harness biological

knowledge, genetics, environment and management.

Competencies &

Experience Desired:


Demonstrated ability to

work with nonlinear dynamic systems, including model development in Bayesian

framework, uncertainty quantification and predictability assessment and improvement.Expertise in mathematical

modeling, numerical analysis, statistical methodology, machine learning and

demonstrated experience using these techniques to solve research problems.Proficiency in both

scripting and programming languages such as R, Python, C and etc.Outstanding written and
