The Oils Planning team is charged with developing and executing a supply plan that maximizes enterprise earnings as well as support safe, reliable operation at the Pascagoula Refinery. The refinery planners are a critical part of this team. Their primary responsibility is to collaborate with commercial and operational stakeholders to develop an optimal oils plan for the facility. This plan specifies operating targets for the entire facility and provides a raw material and product stock balance. In addition, refinery planners are responsible for communicating the plan in a way that drives commercial and operational stakeholders to the desired action.

During execution, refinery planners are accountable for providing economic guidance to manage unplanned deviations as well as capture prompt opportunities. After execution, refinery planners drive continuous improvement by completing a look back on plan development and execution.

This is an excellent position for someone who wants to grow refinery optimization capabilities and develop an awareness of oil markets and key supply chain activities. In addition, this position provides an opportunity to frame and solve complex problems which have leveraging implications for the business. This knowledge and these skills are enablers for successful operational, technical, and commercial leaders.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

Use a proprietary LP model as well as additional tools to develop optimized plans

Support operations coordination and schedulers execute plans

Collaborate with commercial and operational stakeholders during plan development

Represent refinery in supply chain planning meetings with supply, trading, and marketing stakeholders

Constructively challenge commercial and operational stakeholders during plan development and execution

Guide maintenance timing and prioritization

Inform tool assurance and development activities

Lead profit improvement projects to grow margin capture capability

Raise facility commercial awareness with the intent on broadening ownership associated with delivering commercial performance

Ensure quality and consistency of monthly performance Lookback review.

Collaborate with Process Engineering, Planning, Finance, IT, Operations and Maintenance to improve and generate refinery mass data and the refinery’s decision making tools/processes.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, economics, or related field

Minimum 3 years of experience in the refining/petrochemical industry

Preferred Qualifications:

Refinery experience as a process engineer or a refinery planner

Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent process engineering experience

Experience running LPs and analyzing planning based plant economics such as catalyst life, changing unit severity, rerouting streams, etc.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills are essential. This role is expected to be able to influence higher level decision makers.Demonstrated understanding of refinery economic drivers, constraints, and capabilities.

Ability to influence and provide direction/recommendations to achieve results.
