For more information, please visit us at www.xylem.com.The Role: The R&D Engineering Coop under supervision and direction of senior lab staff will support engineering activities such as, test, modification, fabrication, design development and assembly of prototype electro mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry or specialized test equipment.  Applications may include analog, digital and/or video circuits, and logic systems.  Ability to work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions.  Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment.  Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions.  The candidate will also assist in the design, construction and fabrication of R&D Lab test equipment.  Uses manufacturing test, development or diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, test programs oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus.  Essential Functions:
Under general supervision supports engineering activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry or specialized test equipment.             
Develops solutions to technical problems of moderate (semi-routine) scope and complexity
Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with routine technical tasks.
Works with contacts in immediate work unit to obtain and/or provide information to complete assignments.
Has a strong sense of ownership and drive
Wants to learn from experienced engineers, technicians, and managers
Performs other duties as assigned.
Capable of physically performing the duties in an industrial R&D test lab, consisting of lifting turning and use of basic tools.
Minimum Qualifications/ Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Attending an accredited University studying toward a BSME or BSMET
Minimum rising sophomore in standing
Basic knowledge of test methodologies and statistical tools used to solve problems
Willingness to work in a research and development environment
Ability to communicate effectively in writing, orally with both local and remote sites
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of engineers to meet aggressive goals and high quality standards
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high visibility environment and work well as part of a team
Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, PPT
Labview experience preferred
Experience with hand and power tools
Understanding formal problem solving methodologies
Strong mechanical aptitude
Must be willing to work out of the specified Xylem location
Strong oral and written technical communication skills preferred
