Responsible for the supervision of quality assurance personnel to ensure the efficient production of highest quality product at the lowest cost in meeting customer demands.

Supervises all forms of quality control, inspection, testing etc. to meet established quality standards; supervises the use of various kinds of measuring instruments and the use of chemical tests. Leads/supervises a team of more than 2 para-professionals; typically without budget or hire-fire authority; focuses on mentoring and coordination.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise and develop Quality Assurance personnel responsible for plant wide operations

Certified trainer for laboratory. Trains and develops all quality assurance personnel on laboratory procedures, proficiency testing, process operations, quality system procedures, health and safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices.  

Ensure accuracy and efficiency of all quality aspects of bottling water production and micro testing in bottled water production facility

Install, setup, and calibrate laboratory and process equipment/instrumentation. Conduct basic level maintenance and troubleshooting.

Perform Quality System Audits.

Identify non-conformances in quality or practices and takes or recommends appropriate corrective action.

Conduct all laboratory testing with accuracy and integrity and ensures that it is accomplished in compliance with all federal, state, and company policies and procedures.

Author, edit, and manage/control quality system documentation including standard operating procedures, specifications, manuals, HACCP documents, and work instructions.

Perform sampling and physical, chemical, and microbiological testing of finished products and raw materials. 

Conduct environmental sampling and analysis to monitor facility sanitation.

Inspect finished products, raw materials, supplies, equipment, personnel, and facilities for adherence to quality specifications, current Good Manufacturing Practices, and sanitation.

Monitor and enforce proper sanitation and housekeeping procedures

May conduct laboratory audits, corrective actions, and training if fulfilling the role of the Laboratory Quality Coordinator. 

Establishes operational procedures in co-operation with Quality Assurance Manager

Ensure safety of all personnel within the department

Ensure all department equipment is maintained up to company standards.

Monitor and ensure department is in compliance with all federal and state regulations along with company policy/procedure.

Utilize Operational Excellence tools to deliver productivity improvements

Conduct scheduled meetings (department, safety) - Develop workforce through supervision, coaching, and training.

Ensure all plans and strategies are effectively communicated throughout the department.

Review, alter, and approve all departmental scheduling issues.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Experience

Specialized Technical Skills

Minimum of 6 months' work experience in an FDA regulated environment

1-2 Years in Supervisory roles of people and processes

3 Years production/manufacturing experience, preferably in the food and/or beverage industry

Working knowledge of specific supply chain capabilities, strategies and interdependencies.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and coordinate efforts around process improvement.

Working knowledge of national, state, and local regulatory requirements in the areas of food safety, safety, environment and emergency management.

Working knowledge of basic elements of Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP in a manufacturing environment

Working knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices

Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds

Ability to fulfill job requirements of National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference Laboratory Quality Officer required.

International Bottled Water Association Certified Plant Operator or achieve certification within 1 year of hire required.

Experience working in an ISO, HACCP, or NELAC certified environment desirable.

Ability to achieve demonstration of capability for all required laboratory tests required.

Preferred Level

2-3 years' work experience in an FDA regulated environment

3 years Food and beverage experience

5 years Manufacturing experience

ISO (22000, 9000, 14001, etc) or other management system

Lean, Six Sigma certification

Working knowledge of food safety

Self-Guided Work Force

Continuous Improvement

Experience using relevant SAP applications

HACCP Coordinator Certification
