About the Position:

This position is a key role in the procurement of direct raw materials.  Primary focus will be on procurement activities such as determining order quantities and working with suppliers on supply continuity.  Liaise with vendors regarding deliveries, invoicing, scorecards, forecasts, and supplier quality resolution. Additional responsibilities include implementing continuous improvement projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

Collaborate with vendors for best price, obtain written quotes. Identify suppliers that fail to meet Baxter’s price, quality and service needs.

Utilize best practices in purchasing to negotiate terms & conditions of sale (contracts).

Determine purchase order quantity and dates to leverage purchasing power and balance inventory needs.

Host plant supplier meetings.

Ensure purchase patterns align with plant inventory management goals.

Approve direct raw material purchase orders. Provide back-up for Indirect PO approvals.

Submit electronically supplier approval requests for new supplier and direct raw materials.

Ensure work area is maintained to 6S standards.

Expedites supplier issues to prevent production downtime.

Manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.

Drive Continuous Improvement Activities.

Interface with plant and suppliers to ensure material needs are met. Track any impact to manufacturing. 

Resolve problems related to supplier issues.

Demonstrate proactive communication and problem solving.

Responsible for adhering to and maintaining Direct Purchasing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Serve as subject matter expert for direct raw material rejections and associated SOPs.

Prepares regular supplier feedback on key requirements for supplier score cards.

Review and approve direct raw material specifications ( new and revised). 

Track and calculate in-transit inventory, report to finance as required.

Assist Purchasing Supervisor with purchase price variance reports.

Assist Purchasing Supervisor with budgeting process.','!*!Qualifications:

Required

Bachelor's degree required

2-5 years of relevant experience preferred

Strong purchasing, negotiation, supply chain skills

Ability to negotiate costing and delivery times with vendors

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Intermediate knowledge in computer systems

Ability to understand supplier quality issues regarding Baxter specification requirements

Ability to interact with team members at all levels of the organization in a professional manner

Ability to manage multiple commitments and competing priorities

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations under stress

Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Intermediate level proficiency with entire MS office Suite

Preferred

6 years of relevant experience

Bachelor's degree in business field

PMAC accreditation, C.P.M. and/or CPIM certification or partial completion preferred

Pharmaceutical manufacturing industry background

Ability to read blueprints and material specifications

Must be able to work flexible hours, including overtime work, as needed to support manufacturing activities.
