We are seeking a Project Manager for our Melville, NY facility. This position requires an engineering background, with experience and capabilities necessary to carry out the responsibilities listed below. The preferred candidate will be a project manager with previous track record of success, running multiple projects in multiple sites concurrently. The position encompasses the responsibilities of coordinating all of the tasks required to guide and drive an engineering development team through the company processes to successfully introduce a new product to market. The selected candidate will supervise day-to-day project activities of a broad cross functional, geographically diverse ~~~ part of a team assessing and driving achievement of program specific performance within Honeywell Security. You will partner with world class engineers and leaders to develop program cost, schedules, and milestones, define technology road maps, and drive improvements in engineering quality and productivity.

Homes and Global Distribution is a leader in the home heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) controls and security markets, and a leading global distributor of security and fire protection products. In 2018, Honeywell will be spinning off the Homes and Global Distribution business into a stand-alone, publicly traded company. Being a stand-alone company will provide the business the independence, focus, direct financial resources, and flexibility required to adapt quickly to market and customer dynamics, and we want you to be part of its evolution.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Complete life-cycle responsibility for new product development/introduction
Develop full-scale project plans and associated project management deliverables required for the successful project execution, including schedule creation, gathering development cost estimates, and target cost information
Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
Create and manage schedules based on approved project scope
Plan and schedule project timelines/ schedules using appropriate tools
Manage project dependencies and critical path
Track project milestones and deliverables against the approved baseline
Identify risks in the project schedules and assist in the creation of mitigation plans
Communicate Project Status at different levels within the organization
Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
Manage the gaps between functions to guide projects though the phase gated development process up to and including the launch to Sales
Manage and Maintain project resource plan
Ensuring that engineering department goals, metrics and objectives are met.
Establish and audit standardized tools and templates to use when leading cross functional team meetings
Help drive the sharing of best practices across the project management team
Continuously evaluate the new product design, development, and release processes and suggest improvements to reduce product cycle times.
Ensure that the Accolade corporate project tracking tool is kept up to date
Manage project execution following Honeywell execution model (CMMi)
Manage project execution via quantifiable metrics
Leverage project metrics to improve projectexecution
Some travel may be required
Will report directly to the Project Management Lead
Schedule and resources required
Cost estimates and tracking
Risk tracking and mitigation
CMMi driving and auditing
Coordination with Marketing and vetting of requirements
Coordinate MRD and PRD meetings
Manage Specification sign-off
Integrated supply chain
Coordinate the purchase of plastics parts andtools for the project
Identify and manage long lead parts on BOMs
Make sure that all parts are ready when prototypes are to be built
Coordinate with the prototype line, make sure highest priority boards are built first
Set up a communication path that will allow for quick feedback when builds are delayed
Coordinate with production planning
Arrange bandwidth allocation and timing

YOU MUST HAVE
High School Diploma or GED
Bachelor's Degree, in lieu of education, 5 years of new product introduction experience
5 years experience in an engineering or project management role with 2 years of management experience
2 new product development experience
Project Management Professional (CPMP) certification or equivalent
Working Knowledge of Project Management Methodologies
Working Knowledge of CMM or CMMi
Some experience in management in a technology related field
Excellent communications skills
Specific action plans
Enhance customer relationships
Some experience in engineering
Experience in electronic assembly fabrication
Program management skills
Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done, do things before being asked by others or forced to by events.
Ability to convey subtle or complex messages clearly, as appropriate for the topic and audience.
Demonstrated Earned Value Management skills
Experienced with standard project management tools such as Microsoft Project
Prior Experience of successfully managing New Product Development projects in the role of project manager
Technical background with an understanding of what it takes to complete embedded system designs
