Summary:This position reports to the Director, Accounting Research, Policy and Implementation and will be a key member of the Chief Accounting Officer team, driving excellence in financial reporting on a global basis. The Project Lead will support the Director - Accounting Research, Policy and Implementation in the implementation of new accounting standards that are applicable to the Company on a global basis. The Project Lead may also assist with accounting research; establishing and maintaining accounting policies for the global organization; and supporting the global finance organization to ensure compliance and application of accounting policies on a global basis. Job Details: Responsibilities Implementation Assist the Director to evaluate and implement FASB, SEC, AICPA, PCAOB and industry guidance for all segments of the Company Assist the Director to develop project plans for implementation of new accounting standards and evaluate progress of the project against the plan Organize and coordinate periodic training of SEC/FASB updates to both accounting and non-accounting personnel (e.g., sales, legal, etc.) May lead periodic training to internal accounting personnel in recent accounting and regulatory updates Research Research accounting literature and SEC filings and conduct technical analysis Document unusual, nonroutine or significant transactions, such as acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, complex customer transactions, changes in business practices, etc., and the proposed accounting treatment supported by authoritative literature Provide accounting research support in connection with SEC filings Participate in discussions with audit team regarding questions and provide appropriate responses, based on researched accounting literature and technical analysis Policy Assist the Director to establish, maintain update/revise accounting policies for the Company’s worldwide organization for consistency in application and uniformity of design and effect Ensure policies are archived, clearly identified and available to global finance organization Assist Director to ensure policies and procedures are consistently applied among regions Work with the Director, Corporate Finance and regional markets to properly document significant nonroutine transactions Qualifications CPA Finance or Accounting Bachelor's degree; Master of Accounting preferred Minimum 4-years experience Big 4 experience preferred Experience reviewing external financial statements in accordance with GAAP and SEC regulations, including SEC forms 10-Q and 10-K Ability to research accounting literature, SEC filings and conduct technical analysis Skilled in developing detailed documentation and communicating financial information and results Strong critical thinking skills, using logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions to problems Knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting Ability to research foreign accounting standards in support of statutory accounting and reporting (IFRS, etc.) in support of foreign offices Excellent verbal and written communication skills Good organizational skills, ability to multi-task Strong analytical and technical accounting skill Fully proficient in MS Office suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint Must be proactive, detailed and results oriented Excellent planning skills; ability to effectively manage priorities to meet business requirements and deadlines in a dynamic and fast paced environment Able to influence and inspire action Ability to identify key contacts for follow up; excellent ability to communicate project status updates to team and cross-functionally to ensure understanding We are an EOE F/M/D/V.  Global Payments, Inc. provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color creed, religion, sex, national origin, age, citizenship, disability, veteran status or any other protected status.
