We are seeking a Cost Accountant

at our Corporate Engineering office in Green Bay, WI

to support our

Consumer Products

Engineering

team. 

The successful candidate must be self-directed, able to manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet deadlines. Strong communication skills and an affinity for data mining and analysis are keys to this position.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes

This position will provide accounting, analysis, reporting and process improvements for our engineering department and the major capital projects we execute.  This role works closely with our project managers, engineers, accounting staff, and project controls.  This position will assist the manager of accounting with accounting duties and support project controls for our major projects. This will allow for advancement to positions of greater responsibility and technical ability across the company.  The Project Accountant reports directly to the Manager of Accounting for the CPG Engineering team.

Responsibilities:

Cost analysis, audit, and accounting support for large capital projects

Execute, review, and document the accounting, reporting, and internal time tracking processes and systems for the department.

Assist manager of accounting with financial management and assurance of controls for the engineering department and the projects we manage

Work with project managers, facility accounting, and fixed assets to ensure proper and timely capitalization and closure of large capital projects

Partner with project controls, project managers, tax, and audit teams to ensure correct actual project costs

Develop reports and metrics for project, portfolio, and engineering financial management

Accounting support for month-end closing activities with a focus on internal engineering billing to projects

Work closely with project controls specialists and project managers to assist with project setup in ERP and cost tracking systems and conduct monthly reconciliation.

Identify improvement opportunities and work with the appropriate parties to implement solutions related to the project procure-to-pay process

Provide assistance to other process and system improvement initiatives as needed

What You Will Need:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or Business

At least ONE year of experience in an Accounting or Financial Analysis role

Basic understanding of Cost Accounting and of a General Ledger

Conceptual understanding of the design and purpose of internal controls

Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

Prior experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel - spreadsheet creation/editing, pivot tables, data analysis/manipulation and formula creation, etc., Access-query and PowerPoint – presentation creation/editing)

Highly motivated, proactive, willing to engage and partner

Strong customer focus with analytical, financial, and economic thinking skills

Detail oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and professionalism

Flexible and able to prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment

Ability to work in a team environment both as a leader and as a team member

Basic self-awareness and an understanding of how personal behavior impacts others

Engineering, Construction, and/or Manufacturing Environment experience
