Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. You lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

As a Compliance Specialist in the Platforms Compliance Team, you will play a key role in the development of new hardware for Google Enterprise Customers. Your objective will be to collaborate closely with our Compliance Teams to qualify products to be compliant with the relevant worldwide EMC and Safety standards, regulatory requirements and Trade compliance. This will involve engaging with various disciplines (Compliance, Logistic, Legal, Electrical, Mechanical, HW/FW development teams, etc.) as early as possible in the product development cycle to ensure appropriate compliance requirements are included in the product specification and subsequently the design of the product.

Work closely with compliance team and project management teams to understand new project specification and requirements, subsequently collaborate with logistic team and legal team to provide compliance requirement in accordance with the relevant regulatory standards and specifications.

Address audit request and resolve complex non-compliant issues by the most efficient and cost effective methods. Ensure findings, risks and recommendations are clearly communicated to the various cross-functional teams.

Coordinate and manage the process of formal certification and subsequently maintain high quality product technical files and reports.

Cultivate good working relationships with customers, external suppliers, test labs and in-country agency partners.

Navigate ambiguity in compliance requirements independently.


Minimum qualifications:

BA/BS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

5 years of hands-on EMC and Safety Compliance experience with IT equipment.

Experience with standards and regulations for products using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, unit hereby being an intentional emitter.

Experience in Project Management, including management of external suppliers.

Preferred qualifications:

10 years of hands-on EMC and Safety Compliance experience with information technology equipment. Strong technical background and analytical knowledge of EMC and Safety Compliance.

Expert knowledge of international standards and procedures related to obtaining worldwide product certifications (e.g. FCC, CISPR, ICES, VCCI, NRTL, CE, BSMI, BIS, ANATEL, KCC etc).

Expertise on regulations such as; RoHS,WEEE, REACH, worldwide Energy Efficiency, etc.

Knowledge on process how to verify and approve third-party vendor compliance (e.g. review test plans, support pre-test/validation, support formal certification tests and results conducted by manufacturer’s lab source)

Ability to simultaneously investigate multiple avenues to solve problems.

Active membership and/or participation in standard working group (e.g. CISPR I, ANSI WG, TC108, etc.).
