Job Summary

This position is an Auto strategy role that will contribute to near and long term achievement of business goals, specifically related to strategic initiatives for auto as well as product development to address changes in auto insurance and mobility. Primary duties will include leading strategic initiatives related to auto, auto emerging topics, and usage-based insurance as well as serving as an expert and advisor on these topics. A sound knowledge of Personal Insurance auto products and an interest in the future of mobility and innovation is critical to the success of this position.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities include leading business initiatives and product development oversight. Provide insights on market dynamics and competitive environment. Monitor overall business performance and effectiveness of auto-related initiatives. Influence, inform, and support business decisions for a range of key stake-holders and senior executives.

Leads and participates in discussions with key Product Management teams, to include R&D, Actuarial and State Product, regarding the business value of product development ideas.

Leads and participates in discussions regarding new product offerings and existing product enhancements.

Develops roadmaps and influences the Personal Insurance organization to implement critical solutions. Key departments include Legal, I.T., Marketing, Customer Experience, and Claim.

Responsible for evaluation, initiation, and oversight of auto initiatives.

Engages with vendors, 3rd parties, and business partners to understand auto landscape.

Access and utilize management information to update recommendations on new or existing product roadmaps, strategic initiatives or enhancements.

Responsible for evaluating and working with the State Product Management teams to understand key business issues and opportunities in their states and regions.

Responsible for bringing awareness to State Product Management teams on countrywide and industry trends and competitive intelligence.

Research and respond to product questions and inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications

4-year College degree or equivalent work experience

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge

Strong understanding of the evolving auto insurance space and its potential impact on Personal Insurance products and offerings

Personal insurance industry experience, with a solid understanding of products, underwriting, coverage, rules, compliance/regulatory environment, insurance financials.

Experienced using Microsoft Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies

Strong PC skills. Solid knowledge of PL pricing, filing, coverage, underwriting, compliance and systems; PL distribution channels. Teamwork: effective working relationships. Project Management: develop and communicate realistic project plans; coordinate resources and tasks with other PL depts. Leadership: take ownership/accountability for projects or roles, providing guidance and influence to achieve results. Demonstrate effective negotiation and conflict resolution abilities. Customer focus: identify needs and implement actions to effectively address them. Ability to influence others and develop consensus around a plan of action. Clearly understands how unit relates to the business division. Behave with sense of urgency to achieve desired results. Maintains a positive, achievement-oriented attitude. Demonstrates initiative and innovation. Uses resources effectively. Effectively articulates data analysis to customers, management and external parties. Solid problem solving skills. Willingness to learn.

Licensing or Certificates

Insurance related degrees or designations a plus
