SUMMARY

This position has the primary responsibility to elicit, analyze, validate, specify, verify, and manage the real needs of the product stakeholders including customers and end users in a dynamic, agile development lifecycle environment for software as a service (SaaS) and desktop retail products. This position is primarily responsible for working with the Product Managers in implementing the product roadmap as it relates to specific needs for all stakeholders. This position is also responsible for work on special projects and deliverables, as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Under general supervision and much decision-making:

Establishes and implements effective requirements practices and looks for opportunities for continuous improvement of the process. Assists with the development of the organization’s requirements, engineering policies, procedures, and tools.

Develops clear and concise application strategies with robust and comprehensive requirements collection and manages processes that fulfill all requirements simultaneously. Works with management on software quality issues effecting product development and launch.

Works with engineers, analysts, product management, and business leaders as it relates to the intent and quality of software delivery. Also works closely with other staff, such as project managers, product analysts, graphic artists, designers, engineers, architects, and support professionals.

Elicits requirements using interviews, documents analysis, requirements workshops, storyboards, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, event lists, business analysis, competitive product analysis, task and workflow analysis, and/or viewpoints.

Breaks down and details high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements suitable for use by engineers.

Provides input into design, software development, software integration testing, and release of the final product.

Responsible for client facing product release notes.

Manages small projects independently through all aspects of the product lifecycle, including business and product requirements, process workflow, functional specifications, technical design, use cases, test cases, and training materials.

Advises Development by bridging the knowledge gap between pure software development disciplines and client-specific technologies and practices.

Assists QA in understanding the new feature/functions. Performs User Acceptance testing and prioritizes fixes. May participate in final QA testing and deployment.

Engages in knowledge transfer with product analysts and project team members. Audits documents and models produced by other product analysts to ensure quality of the product.

Provides clear communication to Customer Facing teams on status of features, issues and resolutions. Verifies accuracy of product user manuals, on-line documentation, and help systems.

Participates in the Disaster Recovery plan as required.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

Three to five years of product analyst or business analyst experience is required.

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS

No licenses or certifications are required.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

Strong analytical skills, ability to critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, break down high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding, distinguish presented user requests from the underlying true needs, and distinguish solution ideas from requirements.

Comfortable in an Agile Development environment that requires the ability to adapt to change and motivate others to achieve excellence in a dynamic environment and will bring exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Strong interpersonal skills are required.

Facilitation skills, to lead requirements elicitation workshops while possessing the aptitude to accept complex assignments, analyze problems, and generate effective solutions.

Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem solving skills.

Competent in contemporary requirements elicitation, analysis, specification, verification, and management practices and the ability to apply them in practice and assist in project management tasks, when required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Performs light work; exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Travels: up to 10% of time
