Process Engineering R&D Scientist-PhD-Internship

The successful candidate will work in the Process Engineering Development department within Global engineering in collaboration with our Beauty care technology partners. The work will involve mini scale processing, rheological measurement, data analysis and modelling to connect the microstructure to the rheological properties of structured detergent formulation. From a fundamental point of view the goal will be to connect complex formulated product of industrial relevance to the field of soft glassy material and enable our formulator to leverage fundamental concepts during the design phase of the product to ensure proper colloidal stability. A strong background in rheology and colloidal science is required, experimental and data analysis skills will be necessary.

The candidate will:

1. Employ industry standard clinical study methods to collect and analyze samples from human subjects.

2. Utilize state of the art proteomic, transcriptomic, and bioinformatics tools to guide the team's effort in the identification of biomarkers for increased hair retention.

3. Communicate experimental data, key learnings, and recommendations for future research directions via clear written and oral presentations to a diverse audience.

As a PhD intern at P&G, you will be working on projects that will expand your capabilities (that can be completed within 10-12 weeks) and will be meaningfully related to your classroom and research education. At P&G, intern sessions are considered temporary employment, with a predicted ending point. No full-time employment commitments are made; however, depending on satisfactory completion of certain criteria, candidates may be considered for full-time positions upon obtaining their PhD. The preferred period for the 10 to 12 week internship is June to September. The internship is a paid, full-time, 40 hour per week position. Hourly rates are based on the student's academic year completed.

Qualifications

We are looking for a PhD candidate who is working toward a degree in Chemical Engineering or rheology and complex fluid experience.
