Principal Project Manager - Delivery

Job Description:

Position Summary:

As a Senior Project Manager with Diebold Nixdorf's Service Organization, you will be responsible for planning, documenting and managing exciting new projects across the Service 4.0 program. As the leader of a multi-disciplinary/functional team using the latest tools and methodologies, you'll help lead the execution of several of the organization's Service 4.0 program's strategic objectives. The primary accountability will be around managing Connected Insights development projects, but there are significant interactions across Service 4.0, including with IT (Operations, Networking), Global Risk & Security, Knowledge Management, Managed Services, Professional Services, Product Development, Customer pilots/POCs, etc.

Manage development efforts & deliverables from the Connected Insights engineering/development team

Interface with other teams within the Service 4.0 program, communicate program status, alert management to issues, and assist as needed to resolve;

Perform standard project management functions such as planning, scheduling, and tracking of progress towards deliverables using standardized tools, dashboards and methodologies;

Provide overall project review and guidance, adhering to the objectives of the management team, strategic direction of the organization and follow up of established processes;

Arrange and participate in calls/meetings for customer projects and frequent interaction with account representatives and the customer to support progress;

Create and maintain project plans, lead work/task prioritization, communicate with customers and Service teams assigned to project, report project status, and escalate management issues.

Scope of Responsibility:

Primary/daily responsibility is Connected Insights development work, with periodic support to the overall Service 4.0 program

Responsible to align program deliverables, as well communicate status of program activities and health to Service 4.0 leadership and stakeholders;

Responsible for identifying and coordinating expertise to define, investigate and resolve program concerns;

Responsible for maintaining documented and updated processes, procedures and project detail about Connected Insights and applicable Service 4.0 engagements

Essential Functions:

Coordinate joint efforts with Service Organization (and other areas of the enterprise as project directs);

Communicate with management on the direction, status and critical success factors of all projects and initiatives;

Manage varying degrees of priorities and demands, both internal and customer driven;

Promote an environment that encourages and enables operational best practices;

Work to maintain process improvement; assist management to maintain compliance goals and to identify and implement recognized industry and project management best practices;

Understand, develop and execute Project and Risk Mitigation plans;

Communicate across functions and teams, up and down the leadership chain, including briefings, status reports, charters, contracts/statements of work;

Coordinate daily software development activities using Agile and/or Waterfall methodology, as the specific project dictates; drive the basic functions of an Agile development effort (conduct Stand ups/Scrums, conduct post-mortem exercises, participate in Epic/Story definitions, monitor velocity and delivery achievements);

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

B.S. or B.A. in a relevant professional field;

7-10 years' experience in a formal Project Management role;

Must be detail oriented and organized.

Excellent communication skills across functions and teams, up and down the leadership chain, with strong presentation skills to include responsibility for briefings, status reports, charters, contracts/statements of work.

Experience working with technical resources (software engineer, quality engineer, developer), executive personnel; experience running Cross Functional Teams is desirable;

Experience managing a complex project in Microsoft Project (or similar tool), including WBS, resource loading, dependency management, etc.

Strong acumen for evaluating project priorities and managing within a fixed budget and schedule;

Highly self-motivated individual with excellent leadership, mentoring, customer relationship, facilitation and interpersonal skills;

Ability to lead the team in dealing with complex project matters and difficult situations;

Ability to work in a priority-changing environment; recognize areas for improvements and propose initiatives and plans for implementing them;

Practical experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio;

Working knowledge/some familiarity with Jira (Atlassian), CePris, Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS);

Desirable (meaning, this is a discriminator) - familiarity with data visualization and tools (Splunk, Power BI, MicroStrategy).

Experience in process improvement (TQM, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) and with implementing test/quality strategy;

Experience in high volume transaction processing environments is desirable;
