As a member of a fast-paced multi-disciplinary team, you use your creativity and diverse range of engineering experience to explore solutions to a variety of engineering problems. As a mechanical engineer, you participate in the design, analysis, and prototyping of new concepts. You work in a manufacturing and product oriented development environment and collaborate with vendors and outside sources in order to see parts through to manufacture.

As a Product Design Principle Engineer, you will help shape the future direction of Product Design in the area of Google Home consumer electronics. You'll be responsible for developing a vision for future Mechanical Engineering technologies, building best practices for hardware architectures and delivering product solutions to mass production.

Manage product development of innovative consumer electronics for Home applications, across the portfolio.

Mentor larger Product Development teams as they work to develop concept and solution for mass production.

Build consensus among cross-functional teams and influence decision making.

Communicate results and insights with other senior leaders via live presentations and ongoing analysis reporting.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to drive innovation, product direction and delivery.


Minimum qualifications:

BA/BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

12 years of work experience leading Mechanical Engineering projects.

Experience in a leadership role and implementation of best practices in product design development (RC/CA, TA's, FEA adoption).

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical/Materials Engineering or related discipline.

15 years of relevant engineering experience.

Knowledge of multiple Mechanical Engineering related areas (e.g. Plastic Injection Molding, Sheet Metal, Extrusion, Die Casting, etc).

Knowledge of consumer electronics architecture and system design methodologies.

Demonstrated ability to lead a team and implement multiple large/complex and mission-critical projects with effective cross-functional communication skills, priorities and technical resources.
