Pressure Systems Technician Job

Jacobs has partnered with NASA to support space flight programs for more than 40 years. While the majority of work is directly in support of LaRC, other industry partners & Government agencies may be supported at remote sites as directed by the Contracting Officer. The Center Maintenance, Operations, & Engineering contract comprises of 3 major categories of work/operations, maintenance, & engineering, as described below. *Maintenance/Research & institutional facility maintenance includes, preventive maint., trouble calls, repairs, Reliability Centered Maint., Facility Condition Assessment, & maint./operation of central utilities (e.g., electrical power distribution, potable water, storm water drainage) *Operations/Facilities Ops support includes, wind tunnels, labs, & test stands testing, instrumentation calibration/repair; plant & utilities (e.g., high pressure air, Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) & Steam Plant); technology development & administration, including, Facility Automation Systems & Data Acquisition Systems *Engineering - Facility engineering includes, engineering studies, design, construction, construction mgmt, config. mgmt, tactical engineering, pressure system recertification, project mgmt/planning support.

Pressure re-certification techs perform routine inspections on process piping systems & ground based pressure vessels based on govt. inspection standards & criteria. Additional requirements/position responsibilities include: developing inspection plans, updating pressure system documentation, field identification & verification of system components, research of system components & developing contact reports based on communications w/ component manufacturers & vendors, developing isometric sketches to reflect changes in system config., developing isometric weld map drawings to reflect changes in system config. & maintaining individual pressure system documentation in hard copy/electronic format.

Comply w/ company safety requirements in all facets of work assignments. Maintain good housekeeping & other duties as assigned.

U.S. Citizenship required. 2 yrs of college w/ courses in computer science, math, or related engineering courses, plus 2 yrs of related experience in data reduction & analysis, or any equivalent

combination of relevant education & experience for a total of 4 yrs. Understand basic engineering terminology. Valid driver's license.

Essential Functions,

Work Environment: Office environment. (75%) Test Environment- May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals & industrial facilities. Travel between facilities & test sites is required. (5%)

Physical Requirements:

Must have sufficient mobility to enter all areas of test facilities. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist & sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, & lift up to 35 lbs. (10%)

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, copier, etc.) (30%) Safety & Personal Protective Equipment (10%)

Attendance:

Regular attendance mandatory (100%). Overtime/work outside normal schedule required (20%)

US Citizenship required. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity & promotes teamwork & cooperation. Grooming & dress must be appropriate for the position & must not impose a safety/risk hazard to the employee or others. Must be able to balance scope, schedule & budget to insure project success. The work environment requires the ability to cooperate & work with individuals at all levels of the company & the client. Must be able to obtain & maintain a security clearance as required.
