The Premium Audit Specialist is accountable for the quality and timeliness of the premium audit service provided to their assigned accounts.  The key objective is to make a positive contribution to business unit goals by ensuring that premium audits and associated data are technically accurate and are performed in compliance with manual rules, ACE Corporate Policies and Procedures, regulatory requirements and sound Premium Audit Practices and Principles.  

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Provide branch and program support, with functions to possibly include new client/business calls, field audits (limited), audit dispute resolution, coordination and/or performance of multiple location audits, as well as claims review as part of the premium audit process.  Keep Branch/Program Manager apprised of audit progress, trends, and issues.

·         Ensure that premium audits are completed in a timely manner, and are technically accurate through oversight, monitoring, and on-going evaluation of client data, MGA partner’s processing, and potential outside audit vendor work.  Accuracy is defined by ACE WC standards, bureau requirements and standard Premium Audit Practices and Principles.

·         Develop and maintain a close working relationship with the client(s) to ensure accurate information is received and quality standards are being met.

·         Provide premium audit technical support as a subject matter expert in areas such as classification use and procedures, manual rules, etc., to client(s), MGA partner and potential outside audit vendors.

·         Interact closely with MGA partner to ensure accurate and timely service regarding audit processing.

·         Develop necessary monitoring procedures with controls in place to evaluate client(s) information integrity, as well as outside vendors’ premium audit quality.

·         Assist in the development and maintenance of client-specific processing procedures by ensuring that procedures support processing in a technically accurate and timely manner.

·         Ensure that Bureau Test Audit standards in those states where applicable are met or exceeded. Determine actions required of ACE and vendors and ensure that standards are met.  Work with Regulatory Compliance, Claims, Unit Statistical Reporting, and any other department to ensure overall bureau standards are met.

·         Review and monitor client company classification use for Underwriter Referral Exception Classifications to ensure appropriate handling, bringing to the attention of underwriting any exception consideration of excluded classes of business.

·         Contribute depth to the organization by participating in personal growth opportunities and continual learning. Expand job knowledge and skills through the pursuit of educational opportunities.

·         Maintain active memberships in professional organization (Auditors Associates, etc.).  Request and participate in Premium Audit training programs.

·         Develop and provide on-going premium audit training to underwriters and premium audit processing staff to help improve their understanding of Premium audit Practices and Principles as they relate to their job functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

·         Successful completion of a college level curriculum or equivalent experience, professional designations a plus.

·         Demonstrated WC premium audit competence as evidenced by a minimum of three years of WC Premium Audit field experience.  Out of three years, a minimum of one year should be with primary focus on California risks requiring the interpretation and application of WCIRB manual rules.

·         Thorough and in-depth knowledge of CA Workers’ Compensation classification system, basic manual rules, and industry advisory resources.

·         Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel (relevant release versions), including effective tools and methods for importing, analyzing, combining, and manipulating large worksheets with extensive data.

·         Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to quickly build relationships with others, to effectively communicate goals and procedures as well as educate clients, staff and other individuals of all professional levels in a positive manner.

·         Demonstrated commitment to perform job duties in accord with the highest ethical standards.

·         Excellent conflict avoidance and resolution skills, with the ability to deescalate situations involving agitated clients, using verbal communication.

·         Demonstrated creative analytical and problem-solving skills, with flexibility and openness to outside ideas.

·         Ability to provide exceptional customer service in a proactive way that minimizes problems and enhances relationships with internal and external clients.

·         Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation to effectively manage time and workload, including multiple unrelated assignments simultaneously, while maintaining service standards with minimal supervision.
