Pipeline Technician B

Primary Responsibilities:

Successful candidate will be expected to perform basic operations and maintenance tasks necessary to operate Florida Gas Company pipeline assets in a safe, reliable, and regulatory compliant manor.

Effectively uses hand, power, and specialty tools and equipment. Maintain records for required state, federal, and company procedures.

Utilize computers and e-mail for internal and external communication, record keeping, on-line reporting, material and supply ordering, and filing/maintenance of various forms & records. Responds to emergency situations.

Schedules, coordinates, and inspects the work of third party contractors with the ability to make field decisions to protect FGT pipeline facilities.

Operates portable and mobile work equipment.

Actively contributes as a member of the crew providing and supporting the training of other employee’s, performing administrative duties in addition to technical tasks; and other activities such as budgeting, planning, scheduling, problem solving, prioritization and decision-making.

Assists personnel and/or performs other tasks as defined by Area Management or crew members. Works independently with minimum supervision.

Essential Requirements:

Computer and basic office software experience as well as a strong background in the natural gas industry is desired.

Effective written & verbal communication, as well as interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative environment that includes shared responsibilities, establishing & maintaining good working relationships with others, to support company objectives.

Candidate must exhibit a sense of urgency, individual responsibility, and willingness to accept constantly changing priorities.

Preferred Skills:

Previous work experience in the Natural Gas Industry, locating high pressure gas lines and the ability to work with contractors during construction watches.

A strong background in valve and valve operator maintenance and repair would be beneficial.

Electronic background with knowledge of transmitters, RTU’s, regulator repair and relief valves.

Special Characteristics/Job Requirements:

A multi skilled knowledge to contribute in all phases of the business would be helpful.

Must live within 45 minutes of the Melbourne FL, work location.

Subject to hazardous conditions including escaping gas, adverse weather conditions and temperatures, heights, high-pressure gas, heavy lifting, and cramped conditions.

May be required to travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, and training involving some overnights stays away from home.

Subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and extended workdays and/or workweeks.

Will be required to carry cell phone and to participate in a rotating on-call schedule.

Must have a proven safe driving record, valid Florida driver’s license and subject to U.S. Department of Transportation Drug & Alcohol related regulations.

New hires to the Company will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test and are subject to a background check.
