The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:

BASIC FUNCTION: The Physical Therapist is a skilled member of the health care team and provides therapeutic services to patients through the use of initial assessments, therapeutic procedures and interventions in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the hospital and applicable law. Treats disabilities, injuries and disease through the use of therapeutic techniques according to prescriptions from a physician, performs testing and evaluation procedures on patients.

Reports to: Director of Rehabilitation Services

Supervises (if applicable): Therapy Assistants, Therapy Techs

Minimum Qualifications:

* Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy school.

Current State of Florida Physical Therapist license.

Current BLS (Basic Life Support) through AHA (American Heart Association).

Special Characteristics : Ability to work cooperatively with hospital staff; handle frequent interruptions; adapt to changes in workload and work schedule; establish priorities; communicate effectively (verbal and written); must maintain confidentiality of patient information; ability to meet the care needs of ages of customers.

Operation of Equipment: Electrical Stimulation, Ultrasound, Durable Medical Equipment, Hydro collator/Cold Pack Machine, CPM machine, Miscellaneous Exercise Equipment.

Work Schedule: Staffing needs and operation demands may necessitate variations in starting and ending times as well as variations in the total hours that may be scheduled each day/week. Attends department meetings, completes mandatory in-services, and is subject to disciplinary action for excessive absenteeism.
