Role Summary:

Baker Hughes, a GE Company is hiring a Payroll Tax Analyst based in Houston, Texas.

In this position you will process domestic US payroll taxes for payment, and prepare tax return filings at the federal, state, local levels across 12 FEIN companies and 50 states, 200 localities, and 2 US possessions.

Essential Responsibilities:

Manages all employment tax payments and tax filings for assigned FEIN tax companies based on federal, state and local tax payment/tax filing schedules

Produces reports out of SAP to identify tax payment liabilities and reconciliation amounts

Supports employee questions by providing tax law explanations and calculations of taxes withheld;

Provides guidance to HR Service Center in setting up employee tax records according to current jurisdictional laws.

Liaises with Payroll USA and Payroll Dubai

Prepares year-end W2 statements and reconciliations along with required electronic filing of W2 files with the various tax authorities

Prepares payment requests according to tax liability type schedule

Reconciles tax liabilities with cash payments for GL

Prepares tax returns for all tax authorities for the FEIN at the federal, state, and local tax authority levels

Prepares and inputs state SUI tax rate(s) annually for assigned tax company states in BSI and prepares master SAP SUI rate update spreadsheets

Updates BSI Tax Factory Tax Tubs as required

Prepares Bureau of Labor Statistics’ monthly Headcount Report

Prepares quarterly 941 and annual 940 Reports and payments

Reconciles quarterly 941 reports to W-2’s

Prepares W-2’s in SAP

Processes W-2c’s in SAP

Resolves tax account issues with tax authorities and prepares abatement justifications

Prepare Multiple Worksite Reports

Prepares and pays Worker’s Comp premium payments and report filings as required per state requirements in affected state’s

Processes the GL Posting batch job to post payroll processing for on and off-cycle payrolls to the General Ledger.

On a quarterly schedule verifies social security numbers for new hires and regular employees to the SSA SSNVS.

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

5 years direct experience payroll taxes at the federal, state and local levels in a multiple FEIN company

Experience filing tax returns at the federal, state and local levels.

Some knowledge of locality taxes in PA, OH, IN, MI and KY and MD.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate tax guidance to people at all levels

Strong organizational skills with ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Good oral and written communications skills

Ability to calculate a gross to net payroll

Experience with Excel workbooks including tables and formulas

Desired Characteristics:

Recognized payroll certification preferred

SAP experience preferred (payroll / tax processing functionality)

Oil and gas/well servicing industry experience a plus

Tax return preparation experience a plus

Experience with tax payment and employer tax return preparation highly desirable

Knowledge of international payroll helpful

Advanced experience analyzing Excel data using pivot tables and RDMS management tools

Additional Details:

Travel not required

Occasional weekend and evening work required, especially at quarter end and year end
