The Paint Processor  (operator) will be mainly manufacturing (mixing, thinning, filling) “small batches” of paint on the Paint-Northside first floor.  Operator will produce the proper batch utilizing the production schedule.  Operator reviews batch ticket (or related instructions) to determine operation procedures, tank size and amounts of raw materials required to make the paste and thin down. Processor will then order another batch utilizing several computer applications.

Materials are staged and added to the processing equipment per batch ticket instructions using various types of material handling equipment (i.e. forktruck, drum dumper, etc.).  Operator will also dispense material from several on-site locations (supermarkets/tint racks etc.).  Batches may be transferred to a designated mill and the operator controls the mill’s operation to grind the paste, pulls samples and performs process checks as prescribed until proper grind/mix is obtained and then seeks approval from Q.C./Technical/Process Team when necessary.  Follows Q.C./Technical instructions when adjustments to batches are required.  When paste meets requirements it is pumped out and all processing equipment is cleaned and if necessary, conditioned. Operator will also perform various maintenance activities as needed on the mills.

To thin the paste, the operator follows the above procedures (except the mill operation) and if necessary utilizes transfer tanks and /or positions transfer hoses to deliver material to proper tanks.  Documents and initials off all materials that are added throughout the process. Makes adjustments to batch when necessary.

Performs calculations and records information needed to print labels, label containers, pull samples, fill containers and accurately enter into the inventory system.  Fills materials into proper packaging.

Other related job duties include but are not limited to: collecting & recording data, completing checklists, performing inspections, replenishing supermarket/tint/rack materials, performing periodic scale and process equipment calibrations, stocking supplies, tagging out defective equipment and notify supervision where safety, quality or productivity concerns exist.

Communicates between shifts and other departments to ensure pertinent information is passed along. Works with the leadership team in developing, reviewing and revising SOP’s and the job skills checklists.
