Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware, and equipment to be a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data, and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments, and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position:

• Develop and document procedure revisions for assigned areas.

• Implement procedures in assigned areas to meet and maintain ISO standards.

• Identify areas of inefficient operation and implement improvements.

• Utilize capacity models to develop staffing and processing plans

• Identify process bottlenecks and manage resources to exploit the bottleneck.

• Investigate and implement all Corrective Actions.

• Create/Maintain departmental metrics and targets

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Adjust staffing and machine assignments to achieve optimal flow of materials an operational efficiency.

• Lead implementation of process and procedure changes throughout assigned areas.

• Assist with the development and management of training plans for operators and support personnel for the team.

• Insure all employees are continually provided with appropriate job-related training and education. (Working with Warehouse Section Supervisor)

• Recognize and reward high performance. (Working with Warehouse Section Supervisor)

• Encourage and develop an environment of constant, open, honest communication.

• Develop employee involvement to ensure every employee is a partner in the business.

• Maintain assisted areas in a safe and orderly manner to meet safety and housekeeping objectives.

• Directly responsible for performing work in a safe manner and maintaining a safe work environment.

• Is responsible for his/her safety, as well as that of others that may be at the facility, whether working or visiting.

• Is responsible for observing safe work practices and being proactive for reporting any unsafe conditions.

• Manage employee time and attendance for timely and accurate payroll processing. (Working with Warehouse Section Supervisor)

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

• Night Shift Rotation 7pm – 7am

Education and Experience:

• BS degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business and 3 Years of experience in manufacturing operations, warehouse, or supply chain

• OR Min of 10 years manufacturing operations, warehouse, or supply chain

Required Skills:

• Ability to effectively utilize software programs, such as Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Word.

Soft Skills:

• SAP Experience Desired

• Excellent communication skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Ability to lead a group of associates in meetings to help facilitate continuous process improvement.

• Ability to effectively give direction to employees at all levels when leading semi-complex to complex projects.
