Database Administrator (Level 4) for the Integrated Development and Maintenance Organization (IDMO) Team located in Seal Beach, California. Tasking includes full life-cycle development, integration and test support. Performs system integration, hardware and software installation, configuration and disposition of servers and workstations to support the architecture. Provides problem resolution and technical support for delivery systems. Provides support for the design, validation and configuration management of computing delivery systems.
Creates procedures for design, implementation and testing of backup and recovery systems by working with the customer to meet requirements and align with corporate disaster recovery guidelines. Creates documentation for backup and recovery. Defines database validation requirements to ensure database integrity.
Consults with architects or appropriate technical specialists to determine proper hardware and software implementations to ensure database integrity, optimal system performance and security.
Plans, coordinates, installs and tests software, upgrades and patches, using industry best practices.
Develops database maintenance procedures and tools, utilizing best practices.
Maintains complex databases by performing appropriate database management functions (e.g., maintain space availability, rebuilds indexes, file cleanup, runs utilities to check database integrity) to ensure optimum capacity and application performance. Communicates database status to the user community.

Typical Education & Experience:
Technical bachelor's degree and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or a Master's degree with typically 7 or more years' or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.
Experience in building and maintaining databases
* UNIX background (Solaris, RHL and some windows servers), Scripting language: shell scripting, Korn shell, Python
* Understanding of large cluster server-client architecture
* Familiarization in cloud technology preferred
* Flexible work schedule and ad-hoc support to on-site users during core hours
* Familiarization of ICD 503 security controls
* Experience producing technical communication, both written and verbal
* Experience supporting IT infrastructure for satellite Ground Segment Operations and Maintenance
