POSITION SUMMARY:

The Micro Lab technician position is responsible for the performance of various microbiological analyses while adhering to approved procedures. In addition, to assist and ensure product quality and food safety, integrity and quality oriented attributes are required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assumes personal responsibility to insure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and, incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.

Adhere to Quality work practices, follow GMP's, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.

Receive and prepare raw, in-process, and finished product samples for microbiological analysis.

Maintain accurate and legible documentation

Practice Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs)

Review all test results against established specifications and standards. Perform product holds and release as applicable.

Perform laboratory analysis per MFI standardized test methods and lab requirements to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.

Perform equipment check and safety monitoring as required.

Assist in maintaining the lab’s quality control system

Perform bacterial identifications

Maintain lab database

Sterilize microbiological wastes

Prepare media as required for testing

Maintain a clean and orderly work area including all storage areas.

Support Quality and Company initiatives

Actively participate with departmental and cross-function teams as needed.

Sample pickup(if needed)

Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Associates/Bachelors degree in food science, biology, chemistry or related field or sufficient education and experience to perform the essential functions of the position.

Basic lab training preferred.

Proficient written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge of GMPs, GLPs, and sanitation procedures

Basic proficiency using computer programs (MS Office) for collecting and analyzing data, writing procedures and reports.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Ability to work in a fast pace environment

Rotational weekend/holiday work required.

Must possess the ability to follow instructions and to work in a team as well as independently.

Valid Driver's License.
