Our client, the largest Managed Healthcare, for profit firm, is currently seeking a **Medical Writer/Editor position** for a **6 month (possible temp-to-hire) contract** position with the opportunity for extension. This is located in **Chicago, IL** . ***The position can be performed remotely, but the candidates must be able to visit our client’s corporate headquarters in Chicago occasionally.

**Job Description:**


*****The position can be performed remotely, but the candidates' ability to occasionally visit our client’s corporate headquarters in Chicago will necessary.**

This position will require editing and creating medical copy for clinical guidelines, medical literature syntheses and other clinical materials. Editing will be a heavy focus.

**Primary duties:**

Develops and writes study summaries and reports, presentations, abstracts, posters, and manuscripts for submission to clients, major medical conferences and peer-reviewed journals.

Performs extensive reviews to assess available literature, identify important gaps, and justify the objectives of proposed studies and publications.

Evaluates the quality and relevance of appropriate content for inclusion into proposals, study reports, and publications.

Provides support with quality control reviews of abstracts, presentations, manuscripts and other products for publication or presentation.

Assists with the research and maintenance of a database of journals.

Identifies and resolves issues to ensure accurate, complete and successful, on-time submissions for publications and presentations.


Requires a BA/BS degree; 3-5 years of related experience in researching, analyzing and writing presentation and publication quality products based on complex, clinical, medical and pharmacy claims and health economics data; or any combination of education and experience, which would an equivalent background. Education in the life-sciences or in a science discipline preferred.

Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Word.

Knowledge of publishing systems such as Quark or In-Design would be helpful.

Knowledge of EndNote of other citation management software would be helpful.

Must be able to manage work with a minimum of supervision.
