Manufacturing Production Shift Supervisor

Johns Manville has a Manufacturing Production Shift Supervisor opening at our multi-plant facility in Waterville, Ohio. The Manufacturing Production Shift Supervisor is responsible for safety and supervision of 20 to 40 production employees. This includes directing daily manufacturing activities, training and developing employees to deliver top quality products, maintaining production schedules, and administering standard operating procedures.
The ideal candidate will have a high standard for safety, demonstrated collaborative leadership skills, effective and timely problem solving/decision making ability and flexibility to work a shift schedule.
The Waterville site is located just outside of Toledo, Ohio and manufactures chop glass fibers primarily for glass reinforcements for gypsum wall boards, plastic reinforcements, single end roving for weavers and glass mat used for building materials such as shingles. We continue to make significant investments and improvements in our manufacturing processes.

Support all aspects of a safe work environment including continuously monitoring safety processes and compliance.
Supervise 20-40 production employees, plan and schedule work to utilize equipment, and maintain maximum productivity levels.
Provide leadership by communicating expectations and holding people accountable. Provide positive and corrective feedback as appropriate. Support and implement any special instructions provided by plant leadership team.
Develop and maintain respectful and collaborative relationships
Drive continuous improvement by utilize key operating indicators for control of product cost, material usage, machine downtime, expenditure control and other shift functions.
Identification of issues/problems and take appropriate and timely actions to resolve.
Monitor product quality and take appropriate actions when not meeting specifications.
Support established environmental procedures and take appropriate action as needed
Maintain reporting procedures including production, quality, attendance, and training
Maintain and enforce good housekeeping


Previous involvement in safety procedures / programs and a demonstrated commitment to safety
High school degree required
Minimum 3 years supervisory experience managing 20 employees
Minimum 5 years' experience in an industrial/ manufacturing environment
Effective interpersonal, leadership and communication skills with the ability to lead, train and motivate teams. Including the ability to achieve results through others and hold people accountable.
Proven collaboration skills
Must have the flexibility to work any shift (day / swing / night).
History and desire for continuous improvement including the demonstrated capability to lead change.
Demonstrated ability to identify problems and take appropriate action to resolve.
Work requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, and reach continuously as well as the ability to lift up to approx. 50lbs.
Good vision, hearing, speaking, and color vision skills are required as well as finger dexterity and the ability to perform close work

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree
Previous involved with a unionized workforce
Basic understanding of OSHA and environmental compliance
Troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude beneficial
