Description

Position Purpose:

Responsible for adding teriary packaging outlines in the PDS system

for all new and existing projects at Aveda. Tests and implements revisions to existing packaging as directed by Manager of Manufacturing Engineering. Maintains documentation of all project and test data within Corporate databases.

Each Aveda employee will actively participate in the Behavior Based Safety (BBS) program and is required to follow all safety practices and procedures.

Description of Duties:

Establish in-plant target fill weights for all new product packaging and reformulations based on component capacity and machine tolerence. Communicate values to QA to create the inspection plan in SAP.

Approve fill weights and determine QPA for PDM team for entering into SAP for BOM status 2.

Assist in-plant manufacturing with on-line troubleshooting and solution proposals.

Partner with Quality Assurance and in-plant Manufacturing to identify and implement cost reduction and/or quality improvement initiatives.

Participate in the value analysis process to identify, approve, and implement opportunities for component cost reduction.

Conduct Line Trial program to be thorough and to provide recommendations to Package Development for challenge resolution.

Drive the development of inner carton and master cartons, which meet corporate requirements for transit testing.

Provide transit testing for all Aveda loose pick, case pack, kits, and seasonal programs.

Consult with Industrial Engineering on new equipment planning and evaluation.

Review actual in-plant production samples with specifications and blueprints to assure package is functionally correct.

Identifies any possibilities on in-plant source reduction for Aveda’s Environmental Philosophy.

Create pallet patterns and DIMS on all in-plant products to support WMS.

Attend weekly APR meetings to establish project priorities.

Travel to supplier line trials as needed.

Determine Manufacturing Location on new products for NLM team to enter into SAP.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

Four year degree in Engineering.

Experience:

Minimum of two years packaging experience in a manufacturing environment.

Others:

Strong verbal and communication skills, strong PC, math and organizational skills.
