Position Summary:

This position utilizes your skills to ensure the successful production of Kenworth vehicles. The successful candidate will join a team of high performing professionals who pride themselves in developing innovative processes, setting industry standards for quality, and providing cost-effective designs. The Manufacturing Engineers for Tooling are part of the Operations Team, which supports Kenworth alongside the Simultaneous Engineering, Capital Budgeting, and DFMA groups. This position offers an excellent opportunity for career growth. Successful team members have advanced to prominent roles in other areas of the organization including Plant Operations, Product Engineering, Procurement, After Sales, and Internal Audit.

Responsibilities:

- Manage PACCAR owned tooling and equipment at supplier locations. Ensure suppliers have required tooling capable of producing quality parts for truck assembly through procurement of new tooling, administration of replacement tooling programs, execution of capacity tooling projects, and disposition of company owned assets.

- Evaluate suppliers and supplier tooling proposals including the viability of manufacturing processes and tooling lineups. Use cost-estimating software to validate quoted tooling costs.

- Communicate with Engineering, Change Control, and Purchasing as required to ensure tooling quotes, tooling authorizations, and tooling purchase orders are appropriate and proceeding according to required schedules.

- Conduct on-site tooling audits at supplier locations.

- Manage tooling transfers due to sourcing changes within the supply base.

- Support development of IT systems to enhance tooling management processes and to integrate PACCAR tooling records with Engineering data.

- Support ongoing facilities requirements and lead facilities projects at the Yarrow Bay campus.

Qualifications:

- Degree in Engineering or related field.

- Demonstrated ability gained through 2 years of progressively complex assignments.

- Knowledge of truck-based manufacturing processes, assembly systems, and related tooling.

- Training in Six Sigma and Quality Systems desirable.

- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.

- Excellent organizational, PC, and project management skills.

- Ability to handle multiple assignments and changing priorities.

- Willingness to travel, occasionally on short notice.

Salary grade and duties will be determined based on experience level.
