Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Library Manager

: Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Management, Education, English, Literature, Social Work, or another related field, plus four (4) years of relevant experience, two (2) years of which were in a lead or supervisory capacity.

Minimum Qualifications:

Managing Librarian

: Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an

ALA

accredited university, plus four (4) years as a professional librarian, two (2) years of which as a lead or supervisor.

The Austin Public Library is looking for a forward-thinking and community-focused librarian or library manager to lead a customer-service oriented staff. The ideal candidate will work to shape and enhance the libraries’ role as a neighborhood focal point.

We are especially interested in candidates who have a experience working in urban environments, who are skilled in working with youths and adults experiencing social anxieties associated with homelessness, mental health, chemical dependency and life.

All new employees are required to attend City of Austin and Austin Public Library training as scheduled, and should arrange their outside schedules to accommodate such training.
