The Manager of Tax Operations will be responsible for overseeing and completing the tax compliance required by the IRS and state taxing authorities related to the company's domestic and international activity. The Manager must be knowledgeable of all statutory obligations, as well as all internal deadlines including but not limited to those imposed by Corporate Accounting for financial reporting purposes, and establish a work plan for timely completion. Establishing the work plan will require the Manager to understand all components of the domestic and international tax and financial reporting process, assign duties to Analysts and Supervisors, and supervise the process to meet the established timeline.What will I be doing?The Manager of Tax Operations will be responsible for establishing a work plan and timeline for meeting Internal Revenue Service statutory deadlines as well as internal deadlines set by the Director, Vice President and/or Senior Vice President for the preparation of all individual components of the company's Domestic and International Federal tax compliance (400 tax returns). The Manager will stay informed of all changes to statutory filings and obligations, including form changes, through research and daily and weekly update reviews, and will ensure proper tax reporting occurs. The Manager of Tax Operations will monitor the progress of the work plan to ensure deadlines are met, resolve issues raised in the preparation and review of the individual components of the return, and second review and finalize Federal tax returns in the Hilton consolidated group after Supervisor review, and as directed by the Director. Other key priorities are listed below:
Must understand and ensure inclusion and proper treatment of company transactions in the appropriate tax returns through compilation of checklists, permanent file creation, monitoring, and tracking of new items
Responsible for maintaining information to meet audit and FIN 48 requirements, as well as information required by Sarbanes Oxley and the SEC
Responsible for establishing a work plan and timeline for the preparation and compilation of individual components of the company's Federal consolidated tax return, as well as completing the consolidation of these components into the consolidated return for Director review
Must understand the Internal Revenue Service consolidation statutes and regulations, and apply those rules to the company's return, including but not limited to rules regarding intercompany eliminations, net operating losses, capital gains/losses, and Schedule M-3
Must also understand the Corptax tax preparation software and be able to perform necessary consolidation functions
Responsible for preparing the consolidated return to comply with all Internal Revenue Service rules for electronic filing, and successfully electronically filing the return after Director, VP and SVP signoff
Responsible for supervising, reviewing, and preparing Income Tax projects as required to meet the processes above, and additionally as directed by the Director, VP and SVP
Projects will include, but are not limited to the following skills, processes and communications:

Tax research utilizing online software and documenting findings through memos, etc.
Communication with Hilton Legal regarding new entity formations, entity dissolutions, entity state qualifications and withdrawals, to ensure proper tax reporting
Communication with Corporate and Hotel Accounting to obtain an understanding and document new business units, accounts, and departments to ensure proper tax reporting
Communication with Internal Revenue Service and state taxing authorities to respond to and resolve notices and inquiries and resolve them in the company's favor
Represent the Tax department at various company meetings (i.e. fixed asset, information technology, accounting systems) to ensure Tax treatment is favorable

Responsible for establishing a work plan and timeline for meeting U.S. State government statutory deadlines as well as internal deadlines set by the Director, VP and SVP for the preparation of all components of the company's State tax compliance (300 tax returns)
Monitor the progress of the work plan to ensure deadlines are met; resolve issues raised in the preparation and review of the individual components of the return, and second review and finalize State tax returns as directed by the Director
Must understand and ensure inclusion and proper treatment of company transactions in the appropriate tax returns through compilation of checklists, permanent file creation, and monitoring and tracking of new items
Responsible for maintaining information to meet audit and FIN 48 requirements, as well as information required by Sarbanes Oxley and the SEC
Responsible for establishing a work plan for the preparation and timely filing of all statutory payments of estimated tax required by the Internal Revenue Service and U.S. State taxing authorities
Stay informed of all changes to required obligations, oversee the preparation and review by the Analysts and Supervisors, and provide the Director with proposed payments for final review at the appropriate time
Continually work to improve estimate processes, and work to assist the Director, VP, and SVP to meet established cash management goals
Maintain information relating to this process as required by Sarbanes Oxley and the SEC
Responsible for establishing a work plan and timeline for preparation of all individual components of the company's Federal tax provision to ensure that deadlines set by the Director, VP and SVP, as well as those set by Hilton Corporate Accounting for SEC reporting, are met
Must understand and ensure inclusion and proper treatment of company transactions in the appropriate tax provisions through compilation of checklists, permanent file creation, monitoring, and tracking of new items
Assist the Director, VP, SVP, and Financial Reporting Director with quarterly and annual tax provisions, annual tax entries and tax balance reviews and submissions
As a component of the Federal tax return and annual Tax provision processes, this position must have working knowledge of the rules under FAS 109, accounting for income taxes, and demonstrate the ability to apply the rules in the preparation and completion of the company's tax returns and tax provisions
Will have increased communication with the Financial Reporting Director in this area
What are we looking for?To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess the following minimum qualifications and experience:
BA/BS Bachelor's Degree
A minimum of five (5) years of corporate or public accounting experience in the area of corporate income tax (experience must include U.S. Form 1120 and related forms preparation, review, and consolidation, as well as multistate U.S. income and franchise tax return preparation and review experience, as well as experience with tax provisions for governmental filings, and tax research projects)
A minimum of two (2) years of tax return review experience in the areas of U.S. corporate income tax, Form 1120, and multistate U.S. income and franchise tax return, as well as tax research and documentation
A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience, managing staff and analysts in the assignment, preparation, and review processes associated with the compliance work detailed above; experience must include establishing process work plans, implementing those work plans, and ensuring work plan deadlines are met
Must possess proficient computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as corporate financials (i.e. PeopleSoft, SAP)
Must be fluent in corporate tax software systems, such as Corptax or Insource
Must possess an in depth understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, specifically those relating to tax reporting (i.e. FAS 109, FIN48, FAS 5, FAS 123R)
Must possess an in depth understanding of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, and possess the ability to research, understand, and document tax technical positions utilizing available research software (i.e. RIA, CCH, BNA)
It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
MA/MS Master's Degree
A minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience
A minimum of six (6) years of managerial experience
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
