Business Unit

With over 38 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA-Tencor to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA-Tencor's Patterning Solutions Group (PSG) is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers to join our 5D team.

Our 5D patterning process control technologies control the three dimensions of the device structure, while optimizing the process control loops (time) and minimizing the expense (cost) to create the device; hence five dimensional patterning process control (5D).

The team's mission is to collaborate with our customers to innovate hardware and software technologies that detect and control process variations at their source rather than compensate for them at later stages of the manufacturing process. These patterning process control solutions provide the most accurate process correctables available today; providing real-time feedback and feed-forward control to improve subsequent process steps.

Responsibilities

The team's mission is to collaborate with our customers and to innovate hardware and software technologies that detect and control process variations at their source rather than compensate for them at later stages of the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Leading projects and project teams related to new product introduction: definition, characterization, alpha testing, and beta testing. The candidate will be responsible for various pre and post sales application support activities engaging with customers and other internal KT teams in defining problem statements and resolving customer issues.

Candidate will drive generating best known method (BKM) documents and other training material, and transferring product knowledge to K-T's worldwide customer base.

The candidate will have the ability to work at customer sites to conduct investigations, understand root causes of process patterning errors and inspection issues, and develop and implement process tool control solutions to improve yield and enhance CoO.

This candidate is expected to support high performing teams and foster innovation across the Process Control team.

Hands-on work with KLA-Tencor metrology and inspection systems and software will be required.

Worldwide travel (more than 50%) as required to support team, products, and projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Process tool and inspection & metrology (I&M) applications experience with intimate familiarity in etch, track, CVD, cleans, and/or lithography.

  • Experience engaging process tool engineers (OEMs and Customers) in the development of processes (e.g. DOE creation), utilizing KT I&M and Process Control

  • Demonstrated capability to address escalations with internal and customers to bring resolution to all parties.

  • Knowledge in KT metrology and inspection and willingness for training on additional KT I&M tools as required

  • Active participant in KT PLC process for minimum one (1) prod

  • Familiarity with 5D, RDC and Klarity

  • Software development and/or scripting skills

    • Superior oral and written communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and support a diverse, experienced team

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (Academic) with at least 3 years of experience.ORMaster's Level Degree with at least 4 years of experience.ORBachelor's Level Degree with at least 5 years of experience.
