Job Description
Mojave Foods Corporation, a subsidiary of McCormick & Company, Incorporated and nationwide manufacturer & distributor of Hispanic Consumer Products is seeking a full-time 2nd Shift Maintenance Mechanic located in its Manufacturing Plant at 6200 E. Slauson Ave in Commerce, CA.  This person will report to the Maintenance Team Manager.

Under the general direction of the Engineering and Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on a variety of production equipment at our manufacturing facility.


\tResponsible for maintaining a safe work environment
\tResponsible for housekeeping and maintaining the facility to meet 5s standards
\tSafely, efficiently, and effectively work to attain department goals and objectives
\tDiagnose and repair all electrical, instrumental and process malfunctions - electrical, instrumental, and mechanical troubleshooting
\tDevelop, implement and maintain PM and troubleshooting programs for plant equipment
\tContribute effectively in a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) environment.
\tDiagnose problems and make appropriate mechanical adjustments to filling machines, processing and milling equipment, and associated support equipment.
\tIn support of a High-Performance work environment, identify and resolve process issues and continuous improvement opportunities with cross functional teams.
\tLubricate automatic fillers, air compressors, boilers, air conditioners, processing, support, and service equipment.
\tProperly check out all parts from stock room.  Maintain proper storage of shop materials and keep maintenance area clean and organized.
\tAssist Plant Engineering and/or Maintenance Manager in installations and capital projects.
\tRead blueprints, schematics, and assembly drawings, as well as compose proper parts to repair and/or overhaul equipment.
\tPerform routine building maintenance. 
\tDocument all work performed in log or equipment database (CMMS).
\tMake routine, simple electrical repairs.
\tFabricate component parts as required
\tPerform work in other departments as assigned
\tRepairs and/or overhauls in-plant equipment


\tMinimum of 3 years experience in all maintenance crafts to include electrical, plumbing, mechanics, basic welding, machine shop, millwright.
\tExperience with control systems (PLC's, HMI's)
\tAbility to work well under pressure
\tStrong organizational skills, able to prioritize projects and work orders
\tA good working knowledge of Microsoft office and related applications.
\tExcellent interpersonal skills required to closely interact with co-workers in and outside of the Maintenance Department
\tAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics and relay logic required.
\tDemonstrated ability to methodically analyze and correct problems of a varied nature on a wide range of equipment and support systems required.
\tPhysical requirements include continuously lifting weights up to 35 lbs., frequently lift 50-75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76-100 lbs.
\tMust be able to become a certified forklift operator required.
\tMust be agile enough to maneuver around equipment, climb stairs, and go up and down ladders to reach various equipment required.
\tAbility to work overtime daily and weekends, sometimes with minimal notice.  Flexibility with shift hours is required.
\tCandidate must have knowledge of P.M. practices required
\tDemonstrated process improvement ability and leadership
\tMust be able to successfully work individually and as part of a team.
\tDense phase pneumatic conveying experience desired.
\tAbility to work up to heights of 45 ft. on material handling equipment required.


\tWelding and fabrication experience is a plus
\tBilingual in English and Spanish
\tFood or beverage manufacturing experience
\tAbility to read schematics and technical drawings
\tHigh School diploma or equivalent preferred.
\tDemonstrated knowledge of CMMS desirable.
\tHands on experience with new equipment installation is desirable.
\tExperience with boiler, chillers, air compressors is desirable.
\tPLC and Industrial electrical experience desired.
