Summary:

 

The Solar Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing the various components of the sites maintenance program as they relate to day-to-day and long term maintenance. The primary objective is to manage and administer the maintenance functions at the plant in accordance with O&M agreement requirements and the O&M programs.  This overall objective will be achieved by meeting the following objectives: health and safety performance for assigned technicians and contractors, environmental stewardship, supervision of assigned technicians employee training and development, quality control, work management system, maintenance of generation assets, evaluation of reliability improvements and technology, and process development and oversight.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

 

General:

 

*Manages maintenance and technical requirements for the site, assists in maintenance budget development, oversight, and adherence. *Manages the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the PV industry, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance. *Manages the use of the enterprise asset management system (SAP) and assures the complete and accurate integration of the system, at the site. *Monitors and manages the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, equipment, tools, and reordering as necessary. *Interfaces with the Real Time Desk to review the operation of plant equipment and systems continuously, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement. *Ensures completion of Technicians documents; outages, onsite equipment problems, log entries, site visitation; safety and environmental inspections. *Communicates regularly with Management and all site personnel, both individually and as a group, to ensure excellent two-way communication concerning operational and maintenance issues. *Produce and speak to site reports and presentations of plant maintenance status, schedules, and goals. *Assists in the hiring of site maintenance personnel and conducts employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the site maintenance personnel.

Supervisory Responsibility:

 

The Solar Maintenance Manager will provide leadership and direction to all personnel providing maintenance support at the site, including contractors. Supervision of remote site personnel and maintenance activities may be needed as required by management.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

 

Education/Experience:

 

*Possess 2 year technical degree or equivalent Journeyman certification/qualifications, and 5+ years of experience, preferably 2 year minimum as a Lead Technician and /or Project Manager. *Ability to communicate clearly verbal and written information and directives; troubleshoot equipment and system problems; detect and correct faulty instruments and control devices; install special or sensitive instruments; prioritize work; read and understand technical information, prints, and engineering data; interpret charts, graphs and gauge scales; and interface and work with others. *Must be able to use a personal computer, keyboard and printer, engineering station keyboard, and various test equipment.  *Must be able to articulate sufficiently to provide complex technical explanations.  Must be able to read and comprehend highly technical instruction books and manuals. *Qualified to perform all routine and emergency operations at an electric generation facility and HV Switchyard.

*Ability to coordinate multiple activities and ensure safety, quality and schedule adherence *Ability to take direction, identify problems, develop solutions, conduct analysis independently and in collaboration with others *Ability to work in difficult customer situations *Available for 24-hour on-call duty to meet customer requirements

Technical:

 

*Proficient computer skills using MS Excel, MS Project, MS Word, and Outlook *Experience working with plant systems and computerized maintenance management systems (SAP) *Experience developing and validating Procedures and Processes

Working Conditions: 

 

*Normal plant and/or office environment, including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures and high humidity areas *Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment *Requires use of wear personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.) *May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals *Occasionally requires lifting up to 70 pounds, to perform duties and responsibilities *Work overtime and non-standard working hours (nights) as required
