Description

This is a NASA Test Evaluation and Support Team contract(TEST2) position and may be assigned to Jacobs Technology or a teammateCompany.

Management position in support of Facility andOperations Support Department, Logistics department. Logistics provides support to WSTF Testoperations including Transportation, Fleet, Shipping, Receiving, Supply, Mail,Property, Equipment management including storage and disposal. Manages the overall working units’ area ofresponsibility including leading and directing strategic planning. Develops and implements plans. Determines personnel requirements and assignsduties and responsibilities to subordinate supervisors or staff. Evaluates results, provides employeecounseling and training while complying with EEO/AA programs. Prepares resource estimates and complies withbudget limitations,Achievesfinancial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures;analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. Interprets,adapts and recommends policies and procedures; develops coordinates andimplements policies and procedures for areas of responsibility. Implements quality, safety and housekeepingstandards.Maintains warehouse staff job results by coaching, counseling, anddisciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.Mustbe able to effectively communicate with others.

Qualifications

BS degree in Business or Industrial Engineering and eleven (11) years relatedexperience, or MS degree in Business or Industrial Engineering and nine (9) years related experience or Ph.D. andfive (5) years of related experience. Requiresdemonstrated leadership skills as evidenced by prior supervisoryexperience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

UNUSUAL OR SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION

Position involvesextended periods of sitting. Physical requirements are sitting, walking,standing, use of stairs, and access to remote structures. Typically required tolift and hold up to 10 pounds. Position is located on a hazardous testingfacility; must be able to quickly evacuatebuildings in the event of an emergency.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT

Desk/office work and test area work.As necessary, must beable to travel to other work areas and be aware of safety requirements forthose areas.Walking on uneventerrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required toaccess various locations on the facility. All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA andCompany safety standards.

EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES INVOLVED IN WORK TASKS

Computer workrequired. Use of printer/copiers, calculator,printer, fax, scanner, telephone, filing cabinets, and other standard officeequipment is required.

CRITICALITY OFATTENDANCE

Regularattendance and punctuality is required. Occasional overtime may be required in support of test project schedulesor other priority assignments as determined by management or customerneeds. Normal working hours are nine (9)hour per day with some flexibility based on pre-approval. A condensed work schedule, allowing alternateFridays off, is typically in use for each two week pay cycle (9-80schedule). Personnel in the branch arecross-trained to allow for normal planned vacation and sick leave.

OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Knowledge of Microsoftprograms such as Word and Excel is necessary. Must be able to communicate effectively withindividuals at all levels of the organization. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Dress must be appropriate for the positionand not pose a safety risk or hazard to the employee or others in accordancewith NASA and Company policies. Mustsubmit to pre-employment drug testing. If applicable to the specific job assignment, must possess and maintaina validdriver’s license. Must be a U.S Citizen. Must pass a Federal background investigation. Must maintain site access to NASA facilitiesand computer systems.
