About this Opportunity

Manages Energy conservation, sustainability and renewable project activities. Provide project/program oversight, to include budget, scope, schedule, execution, analytics, reporting, and delivery. Has financial ownership and accountability for project capital and expense budgets and spend. Performs analysis on expenses and financial results in order to manage associated budget(s) within financial guidelines. Interfaces and leads cross-functional communication with external Vendors, Stores, Engineering, Technology, Store Design, Procurement, Marketing, Property Management Field Team Members, and other internal teams to move projects forward, resolve problems, and insure projects are delivered on time and on budget. Works closely with internal and external team to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Define Energy Program Opportunities:

Performs on-going evaluation of new technologies and innovations in the Energy space. Makes recommendations on potential programs/projects that align with Target’s conservation and sustainability objectives. Build business cases and use data/analytics to define opportunities that drive a positive Guest Experience in stores while reducing overall Energy usage and expense.

Project Management

: Responsible for effectively managing Energy project and program activities. Defines program goals and objectives and develops tools, measurements, processes and procedures to track results against program deliverables. Partners with internal and external business partners to define and develop “Scopes of Work” to best deliver against business needs and the reduction in Energy usage and expense.

Vendor Management:

Develops criteria and work scope for vendors that are sourced to perform under approved service contracts. Develops and implements tools and reporting to effectively monitor and measure vendor performance and level of service. Continuously evaluates vendor’s performance and costs. Develops and controls processes to address Vendor corrective action, as necessary.

Budget/Financial Responsibility and Expense Management

Has financial accountability for expenses associated with assigned Energy project(s). Performs budget development, expense tracking, analysis and forecasting. Monitors and manages budget within financial guidelines. Proactively communicates financial trends and risks associated with assigned budgets to finance team and appropriate Target Properties leadership.

Communication/Cross Functional Role:

Provides proactive, thorough and effective communication to the Property Management Leadership team, Stores organization, Property Management Field Team, and Vendor partners relative to program/project initiatives. Takes a leadership role between Store/Building Services field representatives, Target Properties partners and Vendors related to issues requiring resolution and/or follow up. Supports/facilitates testing, evaluation and providing feedback on new products, materials and/or equipment as related to Energy projects.

Requirements

Bachelor Degree, BA/BS

Minimum 5 years business experience

Ability to work on tasks without daily interaction with supervisor

Experience in the Energy, Conservation, or Sustainability space

Ability to manage projects, set timeliness and meet deadlines

Practical approach to problem solving

Strong analytical, reasoning, organizational skills

Develop recommendations to drive expense reductions, and/or sales and traffic increases

Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills

Ability to influence without authority

Ability to effectively multitask

Understanding financial impact of decisions on budget

Ability to maximize relationships - team player/inspires others/takes partners

Ability to identify the need for change and lead through it

Effectiveness developing strong relationships with inter-company teams and senior management

Desired Requirements:

Demonstrated strong decision making skills based on experience and good judgment

Ability to negotiate in tough situations with both internal and external groups

Ability to be strategic in interpreting process requirements, finding synergies or alternatives
