Description A technical support position is currently available in the IT Command Center Operations group. Position requires personnel to work shift work (first, second and third shift) and includes weekends and holidays. Position Responsibilities include: Provide the daily operational support and monitoring of Union Pacific Railroad's mainframe and distributed environments. Utilize and maintain enterprise management tools for proactive monitoring of those environments. Provide second level support to internal and external customers. Due to training requirements, it is anticipated successful candidate would remain in the Command Center for a minimum of two years. This position does not require the B-APT. Internal Only Comments Accountabilities Mainframe Operations: Monitor and support mainframe applications and batch processing. Implement change control to production application and infrastructure components. Desired Technical Experience: Operating system: MVS\/JES2 Subsystems: IMS, CICS, DB2, VTAM, TSO, and job scheduling software. Distributed Operations: Monitor and support distributed applications and infrastructure. Implement change control to production application and infrastructure components. Desired Technical Experience: LINUX and Windows Server Operating Systems, Veritas NetBackup, Oracle, SQL, Workload Automation, Web Infrastructure components (Coldfusion, Weblogic, JBoss, JHE, Apache). Critical Thinking: Ability to think through a problem and recommend solution. Problem Solving: Must be able to solve problems where a precedent has been set. Freedom to Act: Incumbent works with supervisor to set his\/her own priorities. Supervisor typically reviews work product or results after completion. Impact of Action: Responsible for giving advice, information, and\/or analysis for decision makers. Technical Knowledge: Requires conceptual knowledge of mainframe or distributed operations with the aptitude to learn both. Qualifications Required A Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS or related field. Or will you have a degree at the time of hire.
