General Description

The Intervention Teacher is responsible for helping children develop strong reading, writing, speaking and listening (ELA) and/or math skills. They provide literacy or math instruction or assessment, working closely with the school literacy or math specialists/coaches and aides.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree

\r
\t\t

A valid license from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

\r
\t\t

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

\r
\t\t

Ability to handle multitude of varying and complex issues

\r
\t\t

Ability to use technology effectively

\r
\t\t

\t\t

\t\t

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s Degree in Education

\r
\t\t

Reading or Math DESE licensure

\r
\t\t

Three of more years of recent experience teaching at the elementary level

Familiarity and experience with a balanced literacy/math framework including small group instruction

Experience with collaborating and problem solving with teachers

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (not limited to):

Collaborates with school Literacy Coach and Math Coach regarding data collection and intervention implementation

\r
\t\t

Attends grade-level collaborative team times (CTT, CPT, PLC or GLT) to coordinate intervention processes and BCAP across the grade levels

\r
\t\t

Serves as a liaison between the principal, Student Services Team, and teachers throughout the RTI process

\r
\t\t

Implements student interventions, direct services

\r
\t\t

Monitors fidelity of intervention

\r
\t\t

Implements self-assessment of Intervention process

\r
\t\t

Coordinates before- and after-school interventions (iReady, homework club)

\r
\t\t

Facilitates communication between teachers and families regarding student interventions

\r
\t\t

Meets with teachers individually and/or in grade-level teams to help interpret data

\r
\t\t

Supports teachers in documenting children’s progress through the intervention process

\r
\t\t

Coordinates Student Intervention Team (SIT)

\r
\t\t

Meets weekly with the Principal

\r
\t\t

Participates and may provide professional development in schoolwide leadership team meetings

\r
\t\t

Attend AP or Intervention Teacher PLC district meetings, minimum 1x a month

\r
\t\t

Attends and delivers professional development learned at conferences and workshops as needed

\r
\t\t
