POSITION SUMMARY

The Junior Collections Specialist will be responsible for the collection of accounts receivables for an assigned portfolio of customers. The primary responsibility will be associated with making outbound collection calls, following up on past due balances and documenting her/his collection efforts in SAP. The position is also responsible for taking ownership and responsibility for the resolution of open transactions within her/his accounts including invoices, short payment, credit memos and on-account cash. The Junior Collections Specialist is also expected to work with the commercial representatives to discuss trade receivable transactions as well as issues that require commercial assistance to resolve past due receivables.

The Junior Collections Specialist will interact with other departments with Air Products such as the Customer Business area, Accounts Receivable, Billing Analysis and the Customer Master Data teams.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Collection of all open invoices for customers in the assigned portfolio

Primary emphasis will be on outbound calls and will include sending dunning/past due notices to customers

Utilize the SAP Notification (complaint) processes to record customer complaints to enable the Billing Analysis team to begin the resolution process.

Interfacing with Customer and Cash Applications team to resolve on-account (credits) and payments in a timely manner

Present, organize, and convey problems or issues within and across other functions and within the organization, taking into consideration the business needs

Exercise judgment within defined practices and policies to determined appropriate action

Provide administrative support in monitoring customer collection cycle and conduct credit control / receivable collection actions on customers who are late in payment

Support the business by providing alternative customer payment/collection solutions

Review and take appropriate follow up action with the commercial, customer service, and Cash Application departments

Administer the Collections Escalation Process

Administer the Disputed Invoice and Short Pay Coding Process including daily assignment of reason codes and complaint recording for all appropriate instances related to their assigned portfolio of accounts

Research, investigate and resolve issues involving on account money (credits and/or overpayments)

The Junior Collection Specialist is expected to be able to deliver results and reach the goals set by the organization.

REQUIREMENTS

High School diploma or Equivalent with 1 year or more of collection experience (Preferably in an outbound calling manual collection environment).

Prior experience in managing an assigned portfolio of accounts.

Associate or Bachelors is a plus (but not required)

Process Receivable experience -FSCM- is a plus

Good communication and phone skills as well as exceptional customer service skills

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

He/She should have strong organizational skills and possess good time management skills while maintaining and demonstrating a positive “can-do” attitude.

Proactive approach and self-confident in

SAP experience is preferred
