Description:

The Central SchedulingRepresentative is responsible for all registration functions related topatients presenting for admissions, emergency care, short stay and outpatientservices including obtaining/verifying patient demographic information andinsurance, obtaining required signatures and the collection of applicableco-pays, deductibles and deposits. Therepresentative may also be responsible for the coordination of bed assignmentsfor patients in the hospital including transfers, direct admits, ER admits,etc.

Qualifications

High school diploma orequivalent required except for students working part-time. Typing skills of 30 wpm and demonstrable wordprocessing skills required.

Data entry and/orsecretary/receptionist experience helpful. Up to 6 months on-the-job training plus periodic updating isprovided. Previous experience incustomer service or healthcare environment beneficial. Communication skills, clerical accuracy,Public Relations aptitudes, scheduling, sound judgment. Ability to do several tasks at once, abilityto handle multiple priorities with interruption and complete accurately andtimely. Good telephone manner. Medical terminology and knowledge ofinsurance helpful.

January 2014: Community Health Systems, Inc. completes the acquisition of Health Management Associates, Inc., adding approximately 70 hospitals to the organization.
