The term of apprenticeship will be for three years. Upon satisfactory completion of the requirements of the program, each apprentice is presented with a Certificate of Completion.

The Instrument Technician Apprentice program includes minimum or 550 hours of company time on formal instruction of classroom and skills laboratory instruction. The class and lab program includes programmed instruction, lectures, demonstrations, laboratory exercises, slide-tape presentations, video tape recordings, workbook exercises, hands-on practice exercises, written tests, and performance tests. The skills laboratory is a supervised, hands-on activity within which the apprentice actually participates in applying and/or practicing the facts, principles, theory, and safety aspects related to the particular subject or skill being studied.

The apprentices are given field and/or shop work assignments that permit them to develop proficiency and self-confidence in applying the theory and principles and safety aspect of the trade in order to install and maintain instrument type equipment satisfactorily at the Baytown facility.

During the three years of the apprenticeship program, the apprentices will be tested at appropriate, frequent intervals to determine their job knowledge and skills for continuing in the program.
