Job Duties and Responsibilities
DISH's Learning and Organizational Development Team (LEAD) is at the forefront of helping our large and dynamic corporation make some truly incredible changes. The Instructional Designer will be working in tandem with subject matter experts, facilitators and other stakeholders. The person in this role will develop and maintain training programs and materials. He/she will participate in evaluating training needs and provide input to the LEAD team for the design of new and existing curriculum. This person will also ensure that all programs and materials are current.
 
Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:

Assess, design, develop, and evaluate learning and organizational development (OD) solutions to support leaders at DISH including developing multimedia elements to support instructor-led, e-learning and mobile content (graphics, video, audio, etc.)
Determine learning and material requirements for L&D projects through research, interviews, and collaborating with subject matter experts and facilitators
Implement style guide and design document standards to ensure consistency across projects and utilize an agile instructional design methodology for all project work (SAM or similar)
Utilize adult learning theory to design and develop learning events that are interactive/engaging and meet the needs of a diverse audience
Manage the Learning and Development project deliverables and time lines to achieve goals, objectives, and quality expectations

Skills - Experience and Requirements
A successful Instructional Designer will have the following:

Bachelor\u2019s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a focus in instructional technology, visual design, communication design, organizational communication/behavior or other related field strongly preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. As well as a minimum of 2 to 3 years instructional design experience
High level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other software including, in order of priority: InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro, PowerPoint, Illustrator, Audition, After Effects, Premiere (or Final Cut) as well as Word and Excel and mid-level proficiency in a variety of e-learning software such as Articulate, Captivate, etc.
Strong proficiency in SAM, rapid ISD method and familiarity with ADDIE and evaluation methods such as Kirkpatrick
High level of proficiency in visual design including typography, layout, color management, user interface design and color theory
Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise explanations of complex concepts and engaging course content for a diverse audience of professionals
Ability to produce a portfolio of visual and instructional design work including print design, training materials and props, web and e-learning design
A team player mentality that is energized by ongoing collaboration with colleagues, and can execute at a very fast pace while staying flexible and open to change

Company Profile:
Three people – Charlie Ergen, Candy Ergen and Jim DeFranco – were hauling an enormous C-band TV dish antenna via pickup truck to a customer in remote Colorado. In the early 1980s this was one of only two dish antennas owned by the developing new business. A powerful gust of wind whipped up, blowing the antenna off its trailer and into a roadside ditch. There goes half of the company. Summed up as a bad day in the infancy of DISH, the founding trio overcame this setback to build what is now a Fortune 250 company that employs thousands and serves millions throughout the nation – a seemingly unlikely future on that blustery day.
